1. Former shuttler Lee Chong Wei says he does not want to name and shame the person who tried to fix the 2006 Doha Asian Games semi-final match between him and Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat.

Taufik recently revealed he was approached by a Malaysian team official to throw the match.
2. Taufik in a recent interview alleged that he was offered double the 200 million rupiah that was promised by the Indonesian government to win the competition.

Chong Wei, who was shocked by the revelation, told NST yesterday that he had contacted Taufik over the issue.
3. "Taufik is a dear friend, so I quickly got in touch with him. He told me what happened. Thankfully for people like Taufik and me, national pride always comes first.

"I know who the person is, but it's been so long since this took place. I believe we should move on," he adds.
4. Chong Wei also admits he had been approached in the past by bookies to fix matches, but had never gotten involved.

"My country always comes first. That is why I stayed away from it," says the three-time Olympic silver medalist.
5. Taufik also did not want to reveal the identity of the team official, who was a former national player, according to the NST.

At the 2006 Asian Games, Taufik defeated Chong Wei 21-16, 21-18 in the last four, and went on to subdue China's Lin Dan 21-15, 22-20 in the final.

A new analysis of acne creams and cleansers found that dozens of products, including popular brands like Proactiv and Clearasil, contain chemical linked to cancer.

Researchers tested over 100 benzoyl peroxide products and found ⅓ were contaminated with high levels of benzene.

🧵1Image
The analysis found Proactiv contained 18 times the amount of benzene allowed in US drugs, while a CVS brand face wash had 13 times the US FDA's safety limit.

The findings support an earlier controversial study, increasing pressure on the FDA to address the products' safety.

🧵2
“The results presented here suggest that a substantial portion of the BPO acne treatment market currently contains unacceptably high levels of benzene in products sitting on the shelf,” the study by Valisure wrote.

The issue was initially uncovered in another earlier analysis, prompting the lab to file a petition with the FDA to recall those it had found with high levels of benzene.

Fugitive Jho Low reportedly transferred US$406,000 to Kim Kardashian and her former partner Kris Humphries, while Pharrell Williams received US$2,025,000.

These payments were made using funds from 1MDB through his shell company, Good Star Ltd, a witness testified today.

🧵1

According to financial fraud investigator Richard Templeman, Low misappropriated US$1.03 billion from 1MDB's JV with PetroSaudi Limited and transferred the funds to Good Star.

"These were used for the personal benefit of the co-conspirators and their associates."

🧵2
Good Star remitted US$13.5 million to a Riyad Bank account under the names of Prince Faisal and Prince Saud in two tranches: US$12 million and US$1.5 million.

"After receiving the US$12 million, US$10 million was transferred from the Al-Saud account to Najib Razak."

Shein shoes were found to have phthalate levels far exceeding legal limits, with one pair 229 times over.

“Phthalate-based plasticisers can reduce sperm count, cause infertility and premature birth,” says Seoul’s environmental health team.

🧵2
"One chemical is listed as a human carcinogen by the International Cancer Institute, therefore long-term contact with it should be avoided," they add.

Formaldehyde, a chemical often found in home building products, was detected in Shein’s caps at twice the permitted level.

It adds that the one-off loss arising from the disposal of the group's entity equity interest in Jollibean Foods Pte Ltd also played a part.
