The next morning, Jiang Cheng prepared the tea and refreshments that Lan Xichen always take every morning. Carrying the tray he went inside the office and greeted him before placing the tray on the table.

"The 10 o'clock meeting with Mr. Zhang had been reschedule like you said"

"Good"

They remained silent for a while until Lan Xichen started to talk "I know what you are thinking Secretary Jiang"

Jiang Cheng stared at him.

"You don't really mean to quit your job, correct?"

"Um no Sir, I'm actually determined in fact I'm also here to give you this" he placed the resignation letter on the table.

"May I know the reason why? Is it because working late and weekends?" Lan Xichen looked up to him from his chair.

Jiang Cheng however answered differently "I'll be posting a job opening in the morning, We will sort it out and you only need to be at the final interview"

"... Do what you want" Lan Xichen looked down at his laptop and Jiang Cheng gave a small nod before leaving his office.

"Secretary Jiang I still can't believe that you are quitting" Mianmian said once Jiang Cheng arrived at their office.

"Why so sudden though? Are you getting married? A new job? Or studying abroad?" Xue Yang rolled his chair to peek from his table.

"Don't be ridiculous"

Jiang Cheng sat down and started checking on the files that was on his table.

"Maybe it was the Vice-Chairman's outrageous behaviour" Mo Xuanyu quip at the side.

"No, It's just a personal matter" he replied.

"The Vice-Chairman is coming!" Jingyi announced by the door and everyone started scrambling back on their desks and stood up greeting Lan Xichen as he pass by only to pause.

"Secretary Jiang follow me" he nodded at the others before heading towards his office.

Jiang Cheng nodded and followed him, when they arrived inside the office he stood still "Is there something you need me to do Sir?"

"Secretary Jiang, you know that I rarely give a second chance right?"

"I know"

"But I will give you a second chance as a favor

" Huh?"

"It's the one and only chance, I'll promote you to an executive"

Jiang Cheng’s eyes widened "No,I-"

"I'll arrange an assistant and a driver if the work is too much, I am willing to buy you a house if require it Did you pay off your debt? I'll also sort it out"

"Uh...Vice-Cha-"

"I bet you will never get this benefit from other company, say yes and stay" Lan Xichen smiled at him.

"Your offer is really generous but I'm still leaving, I'm sorry but I already made up my mind.. Now if you will excuse me" he made a small bow before leaving.

The door to Nie Mingjue's office suddenly opened and Lan XiChen walked in.

"He didn't answer me" he said and sat down the couch, startling Nie Mingjue who was busy packing his things ready to go home.

"Secretary Jiang again?"

"With all those years we spent together,how can he be so casual"

Nie Mingjue sighed and sat down across him"You kept saying that it was just a business relationship. Why do you think he turned down such offer?Think harder,there must be something about the day of his resignation"

"That day..."

"Fuck!" A loud sneeze was heard inside the office and everyone turned to look at Jiang Cheng who dropped a few papers from his trembling hands "Mian mian I told you that perfume is too strong" he groaned.

"Ah! Sorry I forgot you are allergic to strong perfumes"

Waving his hand to shoo her away he tried to regain his composure before Wen Qing stood up.

"Great job today guys, we could go home early so don't be late tomorrow" she said

"Bet Secretary Jiang will have to stay longer" Xue Yang smirked packing his bag.

Everyone shook their head feeling bad for him. "It's not that bad, it's part of the job" he nodded.

"Part of the job? I saw you yesteday running around with a boquet and gift bags" Nie Huaisang chirped behind him.

"It's to please some clients"

"Girls you meant" Jingyi added.

Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes and scrunched his nose. "Ugh.. Why do people put such strong perfumes, the man yesterday had it so bad I dropped what I'm carrying"

"You just have a sensitive nose" Mian mian huffed "I'll go now bye!"

Everyone started to leave.

Jiang Cheng checked his phone, there was no message from Lan Xichen, perhaps he could go home now.

"I'll go with you guys" he grabbed his things and left the office with the rest of the employees.

"What do you mean he cried?" Nie Mingjue asked.

"When he arrived, his eyes looked a bit teary, I also saw him drop the bouquet when he saw us"

Nie Mingjue scoffed "His eyes were moisturising which means.. 'Do I have to deliver flowers to a girl for you? Shit it's too much I quit!' is probably what's his thinking"

Lan Xichen sat up looking at him "Wait hold on, I think I have an idea why she wants to quit"

"I have a bad feeling about this"

"I never thought about this possibility but it could be the reason why he wants to quit"

"Why?" Nie Mingjue looked at him.

When Jiang Cheng arrived he saw the familiar car waiting outside the building. Taking a deep breath he approached the vehicle and knocked on the window to alert the other that he already arrived.

Lan Xichen gave a small nod before Jiang Cheng went to the driver's seat and sat down. The moment he strapped his seat belt he was face to face with a bouquet.

"What.."

"That's for you Secretary Jiang" Lan Xichen placed it on his lap and pulled out another box.

"It's a gift of appreciation" he handed the box to Jiang Cheng who reluctantly took it "open it"

"You shouldn't have to do this" he murmured and opened the box to see an expensive bottle of cologne.

Lan Xichen smiled and picked up the bottle opened it. "Here try some"

"No! No it's fine! I'll try it when i get home!" he struggled with taking the bottle from Lan Xichen.

"Why? It's better if you try it now so I'll know if it is to your liking, it's a limited edition"

"No really it's fine--" he stop mid sentence when they accidentally pressed it

The fragrance is strong and Jiang Cheng covered his mouth while using the other hand to shove Lan Xichen's face away from him when he sneezed.

"Sorry! Sorry--" he picked up the bouquet "I'll put this on the trunk" he went out of the car opened the trunk.

He slammed the bouquet down cursing as he tried to hold back the coming sneezing fit.

Lan Xichen looked at him from inside the car seeing Secretary Jiang closing his eyes and wiping the corners of his eyes and taking deep breaths

"Is he so moved that he's tearing up?" he smiled

Taking a couple of deep breaths he returned into the driver's seat slamming the door a little harder startling Lan Xichen. He scrunched his nose since the smell is still there and tried his best to maintain his composure and started driving.

"Who did you meet up?"

"It's something, private I can't tell you that Sir" Jiang Cheng replied and Lan XiChen looked at him before focusing on the road.

"Yesterday, that flowers are only gifts of appreciation to Qin Su, okay?"

"I know Sir"

"There's nothing going on between us, okay?"

".... Okay?"

"And I never slept with anyone" Lan Xichen added again.

"What?" Jiang Cheng looked at him, confused a little scandalized.

"I'm just trying to clear things up I know how upset you've been, I'll give you a day off tomorrow take a rest and think about it"

Jiang Cheng looked at him with wide eyes "Do you mean it? Oh but tomorrow we have the job interview for my replacement"

"Just drop by for it"

Nodding Jiang gave a small smile "Thanks"

They became silent for a few minutes before Lan Xichen started talking again "Have you decided where to work?"

"Not yet"

At this Lan Xichen looked at him "Are you simply leaving without any plan?"

Jiang Cheng arrived at their old house and Wei Wuxian immediately greeted him. The two went inside the where Jiang Yanli is waiting for them. She was still beautiful as ever, Jiang Cheng approached her before she could even stand.

"It's nice to see you A-Cheng"

"Yes, it's been a while" he glanced at the walking cane beside the chair and to her leg. "How are you?"

"Doing great, the theraphy helped a lot, all thanks to you" she smiled.

"I'm glad then" he smiled back at her and helped her up as they headed to the dining table.

"So glad you can finally make it today, damn when was the last time I saw you? A month ago?" Wei Wuxian chuckled.

"Yeah.. Seems like that"

"Come, come let's eat, we specially made this for you, too bad A-Ling isn't here, he's been sulking last night" she smiled.

"I see him in the office sometimes what's the deal?" Jiang Cheng shook his head and their conversation flowed, catching up with thier lives and planning another dinner or trip when time permits. He missed this, bonding with his siblings so he stayed as long as he could.

When Jiang Cheng noticed the time. He frowned and suddenly stood up.

" Shit! I need to go I need to be in the office! We will interview the secretary, bye! See you again soon" Jiang Cheng left in a rush taking a cab hopefully he can make it in time.

( Lan corp, Bldg)

Jiang Cheng rushed on the hallways and arrived in the office setting his bag down he looked around.

"Is Vice-Chairman's 2 o'clock meeting over?" he asked.

"Not yet" Wen Qing replied and he nodded leaving the office and going to his desk across the door of Lan Xichen's office

Just as he was about to sit Lan Xichen passed by and stopped in front of his desk and he gave a small bow "Vice-Chairman" he looked up and saw the dark bags under Lan Xichen's eyes."You don't look good, are you okay?"

"I didn't sleep well, you on the other hand look good though"

Jiang Cheng shifted awkwardly "Ah I slept well, all thanks to you. You should have slept more you have an early meeting"

Lan Xichen glanced at his desk and saw a box where some of Jiang Cheng’s belongings are already packed. "Are you worried about me?"

"What?.. Of couse Sir"

Lan Xichen went inside and Jiang Cheng shook his head before following inside. After a while the interviewee went inside and sat down across them.

"Here are some interview question" Jiang Cheng handed Lan Xichen a folder who started skimming through it.

"Wen Ning right?" He asked.

"Yes sir" Wen Ning smiled and nodded at them.

Lan Xichen glanced at the folder before closing it and smiled back at Wen Ning.

"So, Wen Ning who are you going to be when you become my secretary? Secretary Wen or Wen Ning?"

Jiang Cheng whipped his head to look at him with a frown.

"Uh..of course it would be Secretary Wen because I'm both"

"Mr. Xiao"

"Yes, Vice-Chairman" Xiao Xingchen stepped in.

"Give Wen Ning a tour, he's the new secretary" he then turned to Jiang Cheng "Make sure to guide him through everything before you leave"

"I will"

"Thank you so much!" Wen Ning bowed before following Xiao Xingchen outside.

Jiang Cheng picked up the folder and prapred to leave only to be stopped by Lan Xichen's voice.

"Wait"

Jiang Cheng looked back.

"The 'to live my own life' thing what exactly do you mean?" Lan Xichen looked up to him.

"I was too busy with work and I want to have my own time and.."

"And?"

Shifting the folders on his hands he looked down "and... I'm already 30 years old now, our debts are already settled, A-Ling is close to graduation.. I should try to focus on my life now perhaps meet some people and think about... getting married"

When Jiang Cheng arrived at his apartment and was met by soft meow, his pet cat Ginger greeted him and he knelt down to pet her.

"I'm early today see?" he chuckled to himself and stood up heading to his bed and flopped down.

His mind wondered back to what happened earlier and sighed. Lan Xichen's recent actions had been weird, he already agreed when he first asked and he was making some fit now?

"Unbelievable" he sighed and stood up and went to his desk pulling out binders after binders.

Each had labels on its own, he picked up the blue binder labeled As Lan Xichen's name. It was the list of the things he likes and disliked, his schedule, the people he was associated with, Everything about the man.

Now he would have to hand these over to Wen Ning.

While putting everything on the box a few photos slipped out from his folders and he looked at the table and chuckled when he saw it. It was during his day at work and Lan Xichen's promotion some notes he probably wrote years ago.

Now that he thought about it nine years really did past that fast, eventually he would really need to part ways with Lan Xichen.

Sighing he kept the photos and stored it back on the folder but before he could proceed on cleaning his things he heard a knock on his door.

"Who.." he walked towards the door and looked into the peephole and his eyes widened. "Vice-Chairman what the fuck?!" he immediately opened the door and looked at him "What brings you here?.. Oh come in"

"It's alright we can talk outside"

"... Okay"

They went down stairs Jiang Cheng is following him down where his car is parked.

There was silence for a moment until Lan Xichen finally spoke "All that love and marriage stuff. Did you mean it?"

Jiang Cheng raised a brow. "You came all the way here to ask such things this late of the day?"

"Why? Are you secretly seeing someone that I don't know about?"

"No, why would I get upset if you're seeing someone?"

"Yeah" Jiang Cheng forced a small smile.

Lan Xichen shoved his hands on his pockets "Can Secretary Jiang answer my question?"

"No, I'm not seeing anyone"

Lan Xichen nodded "Of course"

"What?"

"What."

They stared at each other and Jiang Cheng sighed.

When Nie Mingjue arrived he saw Lan Xichen on his living room, in deep thoughts looking over a few files on his hand.

It might be really important.

"Vice-Chairman" he greeted and sat down. "What happened?"

Lan Xichen groaned and Nie Mingjue frowned "Did something happened to the new branch we are working on?"

"No"

"So what happened?"

Lan Xichen looked at him for a while and finally spoke "So.. I went to Secretar Jiang's house--wait where are you going?!"

Nie Mingjue sighed and sat down again "You said it's important!"

"It is important! It's for my peace of mind, just listen to me?"

"Fine alright so what happened?"

"So.. I went to Secretary Jiang's house and proposed to him" Lan Xichen said and Nie Mingjue stared at him.

They stared at each other for a while until Lan Xichen spoke again.

"Does it really mean no?"

"It might be hard for you to believe, considering you've never been declined.. But yes I believe it's a no" Nie Mingjue shrugged.

"It can't be"

"I get it, he's good, smart and capable"

"That's true" Lan Xichen sat down again listening.

"But you can alwaya hire someone that's better than him, he didn't even go to a good school and under qualified"

Lan Xichen shook his head "That kind of background means nothing when he carries out his work, anyways.. I need him"

Nie Mingjue sighed and looked at him again, it's like talking to a child really. "Be honest, do you like him?"

"I do"

"No, I meant it as in romantic way not as a co-worker"

"What?"

"Do you like Jiang Cheng as a person, not as a secretary? I'm asking Lan Xichen not Mr. Vice-Chairman" Nie Mingjue tried again.

"....."

"...."

Lan Xichen leaned back on his seat "I need him, period"

"But why?"

"He's like... A customed tailor suit, only suitable and fit for me, If I had something else it wouldn't fit me nor does it suits my taste."

"I can't believe you are using that as a metaphor, I would decline your marriage proposal too"

"Anyways.. Here's the files you requested this morning, I reviewed and signed it, project is good to go" Lan Xichen handed him a folder.

"Oh so that's it? Wow.. You could have given this to me tomorrow"

"You are already here might as well take it" he smiled.

Nie Mingjue snatched it from him and sighed "Good luck" he huffed before leaving muttering under his breath that this will be the last time.

Once his friend is gone he slouched back on his seat and sighed glancing at his phone.

Nevermind, better to sleep it off.

"Alright so this is the business trips logs by year" Jiang Cheng placed a binder on the table. "This is the meeting records. And this is the important schedules for the next five months, look through it as soon as possible" he tapped the folders and Wen Ning blinked.

"All of these..?"

"And those"

"Also.. This is the list of the favourite teas and refreshments for the executives. They will like it"

Wen Ning took the folder and nodded "Oh wow.. I should remember even these kind of stuff?"

"Also if you book a hotel for businesses trips, make sure his window is not facing the sea" he added and tapped the folders.

"I see" Wen Ning nodded and started going through the files

"Oh there are pictures here" Wen Ning picked up the photos.

"Oh we take photos for big events" Jiang Cheng said looking at the photos as well.

"When is this? You both look young" He pointed at one of the pictures

"Ahh, this was about nine years ago when we had an overseas business trip, I just started my job just like you"

"Oh.. I assume you are very good at your job even that time"

Jiang Cheng chuckled "No not all, I'm definitely worse on it. I'm too clumsy and I just graduated"

"Really?" Wen Ning blinked.

"Yeah, but I got better by trying to keep up with him, so just try your best im sure you will learn in time"

"Thank you so much for the advice! I will do my best!" Wen Ning nodded.

"oh, can you bring this to Manager Xiao" he handed him a file.

"Sure!" Wen Ning stood up and Jiang Cheng glanced back at the photo remembering that time when he first broke down from the pressure of his job.

Jiang Cheng looked at the photo with a small smile on his face as he recalled that night.

"Are you day dreaming Secretary Jiang?"

"?!-- Vice-Chairman!" Jiang Cheng stood up and greeted him. There was an awkward silence between them until he spoke again.

"Ah, I was handing over my duties to Wen Ning"

".. Handing over?"

"Yes"

There was another long pause and Jiang Cheng forced a smile "Would you like a hot tea?"

Lan Xichen smiled and shook his head "No thank you" he turned to go inside his office.

Jiang Cheng followed carrying a tablet he approached his desk "Vice-Chairman, about the appointment with CEO Hua, they want to put it off. There was an emergency they need to attend first"

"Alright"

Jiang Cheng replied to the e-mail before looking back at his boss once again.

"Cheers!" Nie Huaisang raised his glass followed by everyone, they are done giving advice and speeches for Wen Ning and just enjoying the food and drinks. Jiang Cheng felt a little relax, it's been a while since he was able to go out with them.

"My glass had a crack" Xue Yang frowned and shifted on his seat to call the server but the space is so limited that he elbowed a glass of water on Mian mian's skirt.

"What the hell Xue Yang?!" She screeches standing up.

"Oh here" Jiang Cheng stood up to hand her a handkerchief but hit his knee on the table "shit!"

"Alright, alright calm down everyone and take a seat" Nie Huaisang gestured.

"This is like a bad omen" Jingyi muttered.

Jiang Cheng was about to roll his eyes only to have it widen instead, there on the doorway on this small barbecue house Lan Xichen is walking in.

"What brings you here?"

"Vice-Chairman!" Jingyi stood up and Mo Xuanyu choked on his drink before standing up and the rest followed.

"Ah.. Thanks" Jiang Cheng accepted the food and took a bite from it before turning his attention back to whatever the chaos is happening now.

Mo Xuanyu clearly drunk is stealing the mic from Wen Ning as he sang and dance.

Xue Yang is taking a video of the events probably to use for a blackmail material in the future. Seeing how wasted his co worker Jiang Cheng looked at Xiao Xingchen signaling him to stop the other.

But Mo Xuanyu is so persistent and pointed at Lan Xichen.

"Vice-Chairmaaaaaann, why don't you hire me as your secretary hnn??"

"Alright enough" Nie Huaisang stood up and grabbed his drunk companion who started squirming.

"I can be as good as Secretary Jiang! I promiiseee" he started walking towards Lan Xichen.

"Go! Go! Tell em!" Xue Yang jeered on the side.

"Cut it out" Jiang Cheng hissed and Jingyi turned the mic off. They are struggling to remove him in the front but unfortunately he stumbled and landed into Lan Xichen's lap.

"Vice-Chairman~" Mo Xuanyu cooed.

Everyone is just gaping at this point and praying for Mo Xuanyu's soul. Lan Xichen took a deep breath as he remained seated.

"Please.. Take him away"

"YES SIR!" Xue Yang and Nie Huaisang practically dragged the poor guy away.

Jiang Cheng groaned at the scene.

"Yes?"

"Did you have fun tonight?" Lan Xichen asked.

Jiang Cheng raised a brow before nodding although a little confused he still stood there waiting for whatever Lan Xichen have to say.

"Starting today things like this will be pretty common. Having dinner with you and driving you home, these romantic gestures will be your everyday"

"I'm not following"

Lan Xichen took a step forward and looked at him.

"I would like to date you"

Jiang Cheng stared at him unable to say anything and Lan XiChen waited. "Are you moved? You're not saying something"

Shaking his head Jiang Cheng fixed his gaze at him and replied.

"... What?"

"I said you aren't my type, I like a person who is understanding and considerate also someone sweet" he shrugged, at this point he was just making it up.

"How could you say that? I went to join dinner with you and drove you home, I'm being considerate"

"But it's not what I want, you didn't even ask me. I'm sorry but I hope you will find a nice person to accept your proposal" Jiang Cheng gave a small bow before heading inside his apartment.

Once he reached inside he sat down the couch and scoffed "To marry and date? I can't believe how easily he said those things"

Suddenly his phone vibrated and he checked on the caller

He ignored the call for a while and heard something outside. Standing peeked at the window and saw Lan Xichen is still standing there leaning against his car phone in hand. It didn't take a while when Jiang Cheng heard the notification on his phone and went to pick it up

Jiang Cheng confirmed the notification before he perked up hearing the car he peeked outside of his window and saw no one on the driveway.

"He left" he checked his phone once again and saw a message from Lan Xichen

Jiang Cheng arrived at his desk and set his things down. It didn't take a while before Lan Xichen arrived and passed him heading straight to his office he noticed that he wasn't wearing his necktie so Jiang Cheng followed him.

He approached Lan Xichen carrying a necktie. "I noticed you aren't wearing a tie, so I got you the blue one" he reached out to his collar but Lan Xichen held his wrist.

"It's fine, you don't have to do that anymore"

"Huh?" Jiang put his hand down.

"You are right, I am self-righteous a little selfish and I understand why you are quitting"

Jiang Cheng was surprised to hear this "Vice-Chairman... What I told you last night doesn't necessarily mean--"

Lan Xichen shook his head looking at him.

"Now I understand it, the obvious fact that I can't have it all and so..

"Just keep up for the rest of the transition month" Lan Xichen smiled at him. "Now you can go"

Jiang Cheng stared at him for a while before leaving, he walked towards his desk and slumped down looking at the necktie.

The rest of the day is spent during meetings and Lan XiChen had been asking Wen Ning about the schedules and other things he needed not once he approached Jiang Cheng who started to get bothered by the situation.

They are currently on the desk working with separate things, Jiang Cheng tilted his head as he glanced at the window on Lan Xichen's office seeing the man busy on on his computer.

He couldn't help but think if he was angry about yesterday.

Suddenly the intercom beeped and Jiang Cheng immediately stood up hurrying towards the office.

"Oh.. I meant to call for Secretary Wen" Lan Xichen said. "Can you please call for him?"

"Sure"

Jiang Cheng went out and walked to his desk "Vice-Chairman is calling for you"

"Okay!"Wen Ning nodded and went inside the office and Jiang Cheng tried to peek on what they are doing but Lan Xichen suddenly shut the blinds startling Jiang Cheng

"The fuck, that was not necessary"

Wen Ning stood awkwardly in front of him.

"Vice-Chairman.. All of a sudden why did you.." he looked at the blinds

Lan Xichen smiled at him "It's nothing don't worry. Just sit there for five minutes then you can go out" he pointed at the couch.

"Pardon?"

"..."

"Ah, okay. By the way it seems that secretary duties also includes personal things"

Lan Xichen raised a brow. "What do you mean personal things?"

Wen Ning gestured at his collar "For example putting a neck tie on you"

"No thanks" Lan Xichen replied.

"Oh.. I thought. Because I see Secretary Jiang do it for you all the time" Wen Ning gave a small bow before walking towards the couch.

Jiang Cheng sighed and set his phone down, glancing at his pet cat he started stroking it's ear.

Blind date huh..Its been a while, he had been too several honestly but for some reason none of them worked,just like Wen Qing said before after their third dinner without interuption

He wouldn't be able to have a relationship while on this job. He wouldn't hesitate to leave in the middle of a dinner when he gets called. In the end he just stopped trying, so now.. Perhaps it's worth to take a shot.

Suddenly his phone vibrated.

The next day Jiang Cheng arrived at the meeting place, it was unusual for Director Song to call him specially during week end. But it might be something important, so when he arrived in front of the amusement park it was eerily quiet.

There was no lights around and no one is around as well.

"What does he want in this place?" he murmured and checked his phone once again. Suddenly he heard some noises in the distance and the lights started to illuminate the place.

Jiang Cheng followed him inside, still a little confused "What's this all about?"

"It's a gift, a thank you gift for everything you've done" Lan Xichen walked towards one of the rides. "You told me once you've never been in an amusement park"

"That.."

"And when you and your family is supposed to go you never made it because of an emergency meeting at the office"

That was true, Jin Ling was about twelve that time and he just started working. The boy didn't speak to him for a week, sulking because of his absence.

"So let's enjoy the night?" Lan Xichen offered his hand as they hoped into the rollercoaster ride.

After a series of ride and Lan XiChen feeling dizzy at their fifth ride Jiang Cheng guided him to the bench. "Are you alright?"

"I was not expecting you would ride the roller-coaster four times Secretary Jiang"

Jiang Cheng looked at him a little guilty "It was fun.." he murmured and sat beside him. "You said I should have fun so.." he shrugged.

"It's fine, as long as you are enjoying it"

They chose a less 'dangerous' ride as per Lan Xichen's words and once they are done his boss led him to a restaurant inside.

"Let's rest and eat first" he said as they settled down. Jiang Cheng sat down and looked around.

After their dinner, they did a small stroll around the area, it was the first time that Jiang Cheng walked side by side with Lan Xichen, normally he followed behind the man in or outside working hours.

"It's getting late" Lan Xichen noted

"Oh, Should I drive you home?"

"No, I'll drive you home. Let's go" he said and led Jiang Cheng to his car as they drove towards his apartment.

When they arrived Jiang Cheng stood outside for a while. "Thank you for taking me home Vice-Chairman"

"Hold on, I have something for you" he walked towards the trunk and pulled out a giant stuff toy of a dog, he smiled as he approached Jiang Cheng.

"It's a gift from me to you, for working so hard I named him 'good job'

Jiang Cheng chuckled taking the gift, holding the giant dog on his arms. "You didn't have to, but thank you this and for tonight"

"Don't mention it. This is only the basics when It's all for you"

"You know, you are completely mistaken if you thought I'd say 'I'll work for you forever' with just this right?"

Lan Xichen chuckled "I knew you were such a tough person to please Secretary Jiang.

They stared at eachother for a while and suddenly Lan Xichen took a step forward before leaning close to his face.

Jiang Cheng was caught off guard that he lifted good job up blocking Lan Xichen's face hitting his lips against the hard part of it's snout. " Good night Mr. Lan"

He immediately rushed upstairs and Lan XiChen waved holding a hand at his mouth, watching Jiang Cheng hurrying towards his apartment.

"Well..that hurts" he murmured touching his lips once again.

Next day

When Jiang Cheng arrived at the office Wen Ning is already there. Lan Xichen arrived a few minutes after smiling at them as he entered his office.

"He seems to be in a good mood" Wen Ning murmured.

"Seems like it" Jiang Cheng stood up carrying his tablet and went inside.

"Good Morning Vice Chairman, I have the schedule for today" he handed him the tablet and looked at him for a while before frowning, he approached Lan Xichen "Your necktie is crooked" before he knew it he reached out for his tie, fixing it.

Lan Xichen stayed still, this is a habit that Jiang Cheng developed during their days together and Lan XiChen doesn't really mind it however now, seeing Jiang Cheng so close he recalled that moment last night.

Jiang Cheng noticed this as well and looked at him, the events last night replayed in his mind and he immediately tapped Lan Xichen's shoulder a bit hard before stepping back.

"I uh.. If you don't need anything I'll get going now" he said before leaving the office.

Wen Ning went inside Lan Xichen office placing a tray with his usual tea and refreshments.

"Where is Secretary Jiang?" Lan Xichen asked looking at the tray.

"Secretary Jiang said this is my task now" Wen Ning smiled.

"Oh did he now?"

Bringing the tray in the table Wen Ning stood still "I know I have a lot of catching up to do, so I'm going to work very hard from now on looking up to Secretary Jiang as my role-model. I mean Secretary Jiang worked so hard that it's his first blind date after two years

I really reflected on how dedicated he is to his work"

Lan Xichen nodded skimming some documents while listening. "Well, yes he is truly dedicated--" he suddenly paused and looked up to Wen Ning putting the documents down.

"Sorry about that" Jiang Cheng placed his phone down taking the cup of coffee.

"I hope I'm not taking up so much of your time? Wen Qing informed me you are quite a busy person" Wen Xu smiled at him before looking at his phone.

"No I was just.. A habit" Jiang Cheng looked out of the window and seeing the sky he was reminded of the fireworks from that night in the amusement park. When Lan Xichen walked in and-- he frowned at his thoughts and focused on his coffee once again.

"Anyways, you said you were a journalist?" Jiang Cheng asked focusing back on his current blind date.

"Ah yes, before taking over my Father's company this month I was a journalist. It's quite nice to uncover stories and share them"

Jiang Cheng considered for a moment before nodding. "Indeed, specially like stories that happened a long time ago"

"I like looking through those cases" Wen Xu set his cup down crossing his arms. "It's interesting discovering hidden stories"

"True" Jiang Cheng nodded.

"If you are interested about those I can show you some of the articles I wrote"

"Thank you, I'll think about that. It's quite interesting" Jiang Cheng nodded, well Wen Xu isn't that bad. At least their conversation is not pointless too.

"So, I really did enjoy this hopefully... There's a next time?" Wen Xu asked while they are currently walking outside the cafe.

"Uh.. Well, I guess? It wasn't that bad" Jiang Cheng nodded, thinking back at their dinner. It wasn't really that bad.

His gaze shifted to Wen Xu's neck tie and frowned, it was crooked and it had been bothering him for a while now, itching to fix it probably because of developing the habit of fixing Lan Xichen's tie all the time.

"Your.. Uh necktie its crooked" he pointed.

"Oh.."

Wen Xu started fixing it looking down and struggling a little.

"It's still.." Jiang Cheng frowned and sighed before reaching out to fix it himself, His gaze met Wen Xu for a moment until a familiar voice called his name.

Jiang Cheng didn't know why he suddenly backed away and snatched his hands as if he was caught doing something inappropriate but perhaps working for Lan Xichen this long he never heard him yell his name like this.

"Mr. Lan?! What are you.."

"Who is he?" Wen Xu asked and before Jiang Cheng could introduce him Lan Xichen already spoke.

"Lan Xichen, Vice-Chairman of the Lan corp"

"Oh.. That big company huh" Wen Xu turned to look at Jiang Cheng. "I believe it's past office hours"

"There is something I need to discuss with him" Lan Xichen replied, not budging an inch.

"Could it wait tomorrow I'm sure Jiang Cheng here is tired"

Jiang Cheng looked at the two and he didn't like how they stared at eachother so he sighed and finally intervened.

"Wen Xu, its fine.. Thanks for today" he politely said and thankfully the man only nodded to him telling him that he would send a mesage later before he left, now Jiang Cheng turned to look at Lan Xichen with a small frown.

"I didn't expect to see you here Vice-Chairman"

"I.. Just happened to pass by"

"Right? So what's this all about? Did I miss any details? Or was there a delay in preparing for the event tomorrow?... No?"

Lan Xichen didn't reply and it made Jiang Cheng a little skeptical and looked at him.

"Could it be.. Because I went on a blind date?"

"Oh no! Of course not" Lan Xichen cleared his throat "Whether you do on a blind date or not, how is that my concern?" he shook his head and looked at Jiang Cheng

"I dont mean it that way, I thought you were mad because I'm spending so much time outside while the big event is coming up tomorrow--"

"Exactly, you know how much this event means to our company so how can you go on blind date the day before"

"Ahh.. I see"

Lan Xichen shifted on one foot and they stared at eachother for a while until he spoke again "Anyway, it's not long to go until you leave, until then I want you to be efficient in your job until the end."

"Alright Sir, I will delay some private affairs like blind dates to after I leave the company"

"Just don't."

Jiang Cheng raised a brow looking at him "... Did you mean my resignation or the blind date?"

But instead of answering Lan Xichen turned away to leave.

"The hell.."
