#ThePaperTigers Character Study • A Thread. This is how I interpreted each round of the Final Big Boss Fight in the movie. Each round represents each chapter of Danny’s life. The first round represents Danny’s youthful hubris… always attacking.
The second round represents Danny’s adulthood - always on the defensive and constantly running away from challenges and responsibilities.
In the final round, Danny finally steps up and faces all his demons - his past, etc (personified by Zhen Fan).
A three act structure of Danny’s life interwoven into a fun Big Boss Final Fight. What fun!!
Also, I wanted Danny to take a step back after the salute for the first 2 rounds of the last fight. And on the final round, he steps forward after the salute. You know, because he ain’t afraid of no ghosts anymore. Step up, punk!
Also, I felt that Zhen Fan was the Bizzaro Danny. That he was what Danny would’ve eventually become had he kept on that same path of hubris. Mirror images. End of Rant. Gn.
