If you know any undergraduate student, send this tweet to them.
They should make sure they do all of these before they graduate if they are looking at scholarship abroad:
1. Make sure they graduate with atleast a 2:1 or Upper credit .
This makes life easier.
Ofcourse, life does not end if you have a Lower grade.
You will only need to do more work.
2. If they are assigned supervisor before their final year, they should make sure they discuss with their supervisor before going for IT.
They should reiterate the fact that they want a PUBLISHABLE project, and they are willing to do anything to get this done.
This was exactly what I told my brother.
Guess what?
His supervisor said, 'People that usually tell me about publications usually leave the country faster because they have a leverage'.
I laughed when my brother told me.
The Professor had to link him with his former
student who owns a company in Lagos. My brother is currently doing his IT there.
What if he had not opened his mouth?
By the way, my brother said the Prof is one of the toughest in the department.
But I gave him the necessary 'ginger' to be bold.
The Prof admired his boldness.
3. If possible, they should join clubs and meaningful, impactful organisations, not the 'kegite' club 🤣
This will be part of their achievements in school.
They should do something real.
4. Their lecturers must know about their intentions and ambitions early enough.
Before I left LAUTECH, I told about 4 of my lecturers about my scholarship hustle. I built relationship with them. So, it was easy to get references.
Infact, I even begged them on behalf of my friends who needed references then.
5. Once they get to their 2nd or 3rd year, they should start reading my pinned tweets to get themselves acquainted with Scholarship requirements. This will help them better prepared.
6. Finally, they should make sure they get their TRANSCRIPT before going for National Service. This is very very important.
I know it's not easy, but there's always a way.
I got my transcript four months after I wrote my final exam while waiting for NYSC call up letter.
By the way, you don't need NYSC to get Scholarship. So, do not post pone all your plans till service year if you are really serious.
Kindly RT, Tag and send this tweet to all your Undergraduate people.
