Among 74 nursing home residents, 72 were vaxxed (70 fully, 2 partially w Pfizer shitty shot) & 2 unvaxxed. In total, 17 got COVID (alpha variant) including 1 unvaccinated resident, 2 partially vaccinated residents, and 14 fully vaccinated residents.…
Among individuals with diagnoses, 8 residents developed severe disease, 2 were hospitalized, and 1 individual (the unvaccinated resident) died.
Among 102 health care professionals, 34 were vaccinated (33.3%) & 68 were unvaccinated (66.7%). In total, 12 HCP got COVID (11.8%; 5 symptomatic, none severe).
A total of 9 (13.2%) unvaxxed HCP got COVID vs. 3 vaxxed HCP (8.8%; including 1 fully vaccinated with Pfizer and 2 individuals partially vaccinated with AZ).
Conclusion: the vaxx ain't gonna spare you from getting COVID if you're old. Healthy people probably don't need to get the shot but could get it if they wanted to lessen their chance of getting symptomatic COVID. The End.

Morons, everywhere. We need to stop being so tolerant of dullards and loons.
Please, stop enabling stupidity and lunacy. Not good for the longevity of the human race.
I *could* name names here, but I won't. Not yet, at least. I haven't lost all decency/civility. Yet. But you know who these morons are and YOU need to call them out on their stupidity.

I do know the fed government are restricting access to lifesaving monoclonal Ab treatment to select "priority" groups. If you don't fall into one of these groups they will attempt to prevent you from receiving monoclonal Ab treatment especially in certain states (blue) Image

Also a paper came out recently looking at B cell maturation and showed the more antigen your system is flushed with the greater the differentiation of immature B cells to memory B cells/fewer adaptable effector B cells and the greater immune recognition of variants.
Hence why actual infection gives you greater longevity of immune response vs brief inoculation w a viral antigen
Lots of interesting concepts in this paper…
Not claiming to fully grasp it all yet myself LOL

Fascinating article out today showing the role of anti-viral PROTEINS (SERINC) expressed cell membranes that relocate from the cell surface to mitochondrion upon viral infection and stimulate antiviral INF pathway…
This family of proteins is best known for their role in diminishing HIV infectivity by enhancing the innate antiviral response via relocation/oligomerizing w MAVs/TRAP6. Cell culture expts show SERINC family proteins also help protect cells from Ebola and Zika viruses.
W/regard to HIV SERINC5 has been shown to incorporating itself into the HIV particle during viral production. Thus it's like a little ticking time bomb that follows the virus around. Problem being that HIV..
