NEW FROM ME: Chinese officials detained an Air Canada cargo flight crew Sept. 9 after one of the pilots allegedly tested positive for COVID upon landing in Hong Kong.
Sources tell me Canadian consular officials are now involved in securing their release. torontosun.com/news/national/…
UPDATE: Global Affairs Canada confirmed to me that they're aware of the situation, and that consular officials are in contact with local officials and are closely monitoring the health and well-being of the detained Canadian air crew

As a former rail traffic controller, what struck me listening to the radio tapes was the inherently unsafe method used by TTC transit control in relaying instructions to trains operating outside of normal operating procedures. (2/7)
In the tape, transit control casually informed train 123 to head into the pocket track and not leave unless governed by signal indication. He then lined the route on his CTC panel (or whatever TTC calls their signalled interlocking software) and left the crew to deal (3/7)
