NYPD made multiple brutal arrests outside of the #MetGala a few minutes ago. #FireThemAll protesters took to the streets outside of #MetGala2021 & cops then brought in the Strategic Response Group (SRG) to crack down on the protesters. Protesters chanted the name of #MikeRosado.
At one point earlier today outside of the #MetGala, NYPD cops dragged #FireThemAll protesters off the sidewalk & threw them to the ground to arrest them. Protesters demanded the firing of multiple dirty NYPD cops, justice for #MikeRosado, & defunding NYPD/investing in community.
Currently at jail support in Harlem outside NYPD’s 28th precinct. Two people have been released already. I’m hearing 10 people were arrested in total but haven’t confirmed that.
Jail support for #FireThemAll protesters still happening outside of NYPD’s 28th precinct in Harlem despite the rain. A few people have been released but there’s still a few more people locked up. It’s been a while since cops have let someone out.
Here at jail support still outside of NYPD’s 28th precinct in Harlem. Cops just tried to sneak an arrested (& injured) #FireThemAll protester out the back & put him in an ambulance. Luckily, he yelled out when the cops tried to sneak him out & everyone ran around the corner.
I’m gonna post some more videos of yesterday in this thread now & try to give a recap of what I saw happen. When I left jail support last nite, all but 2 of the arrested #FireThemAll protesters had been released. Hopefully, they’re out by now.
#FireThemAll protesters initially gathered at NYC’s Foley Square yesterday afternoon then made their way to the subway. NYPD cops tried to actually follow them & even get on the same train car as them too. Protesters then stood their ground & told cops to get off the train.
#FireThemAll protesters got to where the #MetGala was happening yesterday, & NYPD cops had barricaded people onto the sidewalk so protesters waited until a good moment & got on the streets. Some people on the sidelines joined. Cops immediately tried to repress the protest.
After #FireThemAll protesters got on the street outside of the #MetGala yesterday, NYPD cops tried to put up barricades on the street. Protesters chanted to onlookers “Wake up! Wake up! This is your fight too!” & expressed solidarity with Palestine!
“Free the people! Fight the power! Fuck the police! Abolition!” #FireThemAll protesters chanted on the street outside of the #MetGala yesterday as NYPD cops called for backup to crack down on the protest.
#MikeRosado just got killed in the Bronx!”

#FireThemAll protesters outside of the #MetGala then started taking apart the barricades that NYPD cops put up yesterday. Protesters spoke about the NYPD’s huge budget & how cops recently killed #MikeRosado. #MetGala2021
After #FireThemAll protesters got in the streets outside of the #MetGala yesterday, NYPD put up barricades on the street & began getting their numbers up to crack down on the protest. Protesters then took apart the barricades & stood their ground.
Chants of “ACAB! All cops are bastards!” & “No cops! No KKK! No fascist USA!” outside the #MetGala yesterday as protesters got on the streets. NYPD cops began getting their numbers up (& waiting for the Strategic Response Group aka SRG to arrive) to crack down on the protest.
After a few minutes of #FireThemAll protesters taking the street outside of the #MetGala yesterday, NYPD’s notoriously violent Strategic Response Group (SRG) showed up & formed a line with the other cops. Cops then began threatening (via a PSA on the LRAD) to make arrests.
Once NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) showed up yesterday, cops formed a line, threatened to make arrests (via a PSA on the LRAD), & then began moving toward the #FireThemAll protesters outside the #MetGala. Protesters tried to put barricades in front of cops to stop them.
NYPD had white shirts & the notoriously violent Strategic Response Group (SRG) up front as they moved toward #FireThemAll protesters outside of the #MetGala yesterday. White shirt cops began pointing out people to target for arrest.
Then NYPD started making some brutal arrests:
NYPD cops then began tackling & throwing #FireThemAll protesters to the ground while making arrests yesterday outside of the #MetGala. #MetGala2021
After NYPD cops made multiple brutal arrests of #FireThemAll protesters outside of the #MetGala yesterday, protesters got on the sidewalk. Along with the notoriously violent Strategic Response Group (SRG), NYPD Community Affairs & the protest surveillance unit TARU was there too.
After making multiple brutal arrests yesterday outside of the #MetGala, NYPD began dragging arrested #FireThemAll protesters to NYPD vehicles. Other protesters chanted from the sidewalk but you can hear the short, female white shirt cop here targeting more protesters for arrest.
After making multiple brutal arrests of #FireThemAll protesters outside of the #MetGala yesterday, NYPD made sure the protest surveillance unit TARU was recording the remaining protesters. This cop in a suit was also talking shit to protesters.
After making multiple brutal arrests yesterday outside of the #MetGala , an absolutely rabid NYPD cop then tried to lunge at & grab a #FireThemAll protester that was on the sidewalk.
After NYPD had already made multiple brutal arrests of #FireThemAll protesters yesterday outside of the #MetGala, this out-of-control cop began trying to just grab people. He was so bad that other cops had to hold him back & walk him away before he drew too much attention.
Then NYPD started targeting #FireThemAll protesters & even dragging them off the sidewalk to arrest them:
Here’s NYPD Community Affairs (in their oh-so-friendly blue shirts) helping the notoriously violent Strategic Response Group (SRG) arrest #FireThemAll protesters (who had just got dragged off the sidewalk & thrown to the ground) outside of the #MetGala yesterday. #MetGala2021
#FireThemAll protesters chanted the names of #BreonnaTaylor & #MikeRosado not long after NYPD made multiple brutal arrests outside of the #MetGala yesterday.
#FireThemAll protesters chanted “Fuck the police!” as NYPD cops put arrested protesters into NYPD vehicles outside of the #MetGala yesterday. One arrested protester yelled “They beat me up. Look at my face! It’s bloody!” as cops put him in the back of a cop car.
Chants of “Disband the SRG!” as NYPD (including the notoriously violent Strategic Response Group aka SRG) debriefed after violently arresting multiple #FireThemAll protesters outside the #MetGala yesterday. Not too many masks among the cops either.
After NYPD made multiple brutal arrests of #FireThemAll protesters outside of the #MetGala yesterday, other protesters found out that cops took them to NYPD’s 28th precinct in Harlem. Protesters headed up there (with some mass fare evasion), & cops were outside with barricades.
At jail support last nite, #FireThemAll protesters played FTP music & waited outside of NYPD’s 28th precinct in Harlem for the release of their comrades.
If you wanna show some support to an arrested protester:

Someone just ran their car into #FireCuervo protesters right outside of NYPD’s 6th precinct. NYPD came & ripped a protester’s bike out of the car’s way before the car went through & hit protesters as it sped off. Protesters ran after the car & then cops ran after them & the car.
#FireCuervo protesters ran after the car after it hit people. Cops kinda just stood around at first until they got told to get the car. NYPD TARU continued recording & surveilling protesters.
Eventually, cops caught up to the protesters & the car. NYPD cops pushed #FireCuervo protesters back & arrested the driver. One protester also eventually got put in an ambulance. Protesters then continued marching.

As part of the fake NYPD budget cuts last year, Mayor Bill de Blasio agreed to merely move control of school cops from NYPD to Dept of Education.

Basically, put a different patch on the same school cops & call it a cut!

But even THAT hasn't happened yet. ny.chalkbeat.org/2021/7/7/22567…
"One year into the two-year transition, officials have said little about the process."
"Key questions have yet to be answered, including whether school safety agents will answer directly to principals, how their duties might change, and even if they will continue to wear police uniforms."
