Back when I painted this guy, I had a few people asking me how I painted the scales. Well I’ve finally sat down and taken some pictures of the process! Read on if you’re interested…🧵

Start off by priming with Wraithbone, then outline each scale with Dryad Bark - it doesn’t have to be neat!
Starting from the back of the scale, paint small lines of Dryad Bark in a fan shape towards the head of your Bastiladon (or other such beastie) ImageImageImage
Do the same fan-like lines from the back of the scale towards the head in Ushabti Bone, Morghast Bone, Zandri Dust, and Steel Legion Drab. You can switch these for your colours of choice, working from lightest to darkest. ImageImageImageImage
More fan-like lines in Mournfang Brown and finally Dryad Bark. Now we need to lighten it a little with small lines of Ushabti Bone and Wraithbone going in the opposite direction - from the outer edge of the scale back to the point where all your other lines have started from. ImageImageImageImage
Finally, a few random lines of Elysian Green on each scale to lift it even more, and we’re done!
…repeat on all of the other scales 😂 ImageImage
