Over the past year or so, much has been made of what may be happening to China's mosques, and the question of what makes a mosque a mosque. Do all mosques have a domed roof? or minarets (towers)?

I got curious if many mosques outside China lacked this architecture. A thread:
The Gulshan Society Mosque in Dhaka, Bangladesh, built in 2017, has neither domes nor minarets: ImageImage
Neither does the Baitur Rauf Mosque, also constructed recently in Dhaka. It's especially notable for being one of only two mosques in Bangladesh designed by a female architect (and it won an international architecture award). ImageImageImage

France doesn’t get nearly enough hate for inflicting a century of slavery on Haiti, then making them pay a twenty billion dollar indemnity to the plantation owners for their “lost property” after independence
the plantation system in French Haiti was also perhaps even worse than many other colonies in America. it was cheaper to work the slaves to death and then continuously replace them with more from Africa than raise new generations of slaves, so that’s what they did.
history education in US schools barely if at all mentions the colonies when covering the French Revolution, and focus more on how Robespierre was a bloodthirsty tyrant or whatever, when he and his faction of the Jacobins were the only revolutionaries serious about ending slavery

in this thread I expose the imperialist foreign policy of the Chinese Communist Party. The evidence below shows that under the guise of “development” the CCP cruelly exploits poor countries in the global south, trapping them in ruinous debts and forcing them to surrender assets:
actually none of that shit is true lmao

just ask The Atlantic:
