You may have heard about A/B testing but few talk about it how it is a crucial part in web design. Heres why :
What is A/B testing? A/B testing is comparing the effects of two versions of a web page, a control version (A) and a variant (B), using real traffic. A/B testing allows you to make small changes to your website over time to enhance its performance.
You may make hundreds of minor changes to your website, and you don't have to do them all together.
Why is it so crucial? A/B testing is used to make a tweak and compare the results of the two options. You won't obtain a decent valid conclusion if you test too many things at once.
If you're testing a new colour scheme on your site while also changing the font, you can't say the colour change is good since you can't tell if the font helped or not.Even though the overall change is positive, it is impossible to pinpoint the cause to one element over another
Heres a few things you can do that will help with A/B testing :
CTA’s : Even changing one word in your CTA may have an impact on conversion rates. Some aspects, such as button colour, text colour, contrast, size, and shape, can influence how well it performs. During an A/B test, don't modify several aspects at the same time.
If you want to test the background colour, leave the text and link colours alone. Otherwise, you won't be able to tell which aspect helped make a difference in the results.
Social Proof : Showing social proof on your landing pages, product pages, and other marketing pieces may boost conversions, but only if it's done well. For example, compare star ratings to testimonials in an A/B test. You could also compare video testimonial vs. plain text.
Landing Page : Your page must turn visitors into customers. You'll lose a prospective sale if they don't. On your site, a heat map can show you where visitors are clicking. This information before running an A/B test can help you see which components are most crucial to test.
I could go on and on about every single thing but I hope you get the gist of things. If this helped you might as well follow me if not get the fxck outta here :)
