okay old news I know but i think i figured out why so many people didn't like the direction steven universe went in
its because they interpreted the story as being about a war
steven universe is not about a war
i know this sounds weird, after all one of the biggest events in the story's timeline is the Gem War, but people who think that the story is ABOUT this is taking the events of it too literally. The gem war is not meant to be read as a literal war, but as a metaphor for trauma
every character deals with the aftermath of the war because dealing with and learning to live with trauma is one of the biggest themes of the show. but this isn't what the show is about.
fellas, i just went through.... an ordeal. It is just turning 2 AM as I type this. I'm so tired. But I need to tell my story, if only in the vain hope that my suffering over the past six hours has meant something.
Lately I've been playing a game called WURM. It's an open-world sandbox MMO type thing. It's not for everyone, but I've been enjoying it.
In the game, there are gods you can dedicate your character to for bonuses, and eventually you can even start learning spells. However in order to do so, you need to find another player whose become a priest to baptize you.
His name was Clay. He was a worm-thing who lived under the floorboards of the Krusty Krab. He would usually appear by popping his head out of hatches in the walls and floor.
Though never outright stated, it was constantly implied that Clay was a criminal on the run from the law
