In case you missed it: a second group of lesbian, gay, bi & trans Afghan refugees arrived in the UK last weekend. This wouldn't have been possible without the help of @RainbowRailroad, @GiveOut_Org @microrainbow + thousands of Stonewall supporters who asked the UK Gov to help.
Needless to say, their struggles are not over just because they've landed in the UK. We will continue our advocacy work to the UK Government ensure they have access to the LGBTQ+ inclusive services that they need and deserve to thrive in their new home ❤️

Married lesbian couple @WhatWeganDid are launching a landmark legal test case against a branch of the NHS fertility sector in England. Their story highlights just how broken the routes to NHS-funded fertility services are for LGBTQ+ people today. theguardian.com/world/2021/nov…
Where you live and who you love should not determine whether you can form a family, but the current system amounts to a costly postcode lottery, creating financial and practical barriers that disproportionately affect LGBTQ+ people, and in particular lesbians and bi women.

Since the conversion therapy consultation is now out, we thought we'd go back to basics and explain what exactly conversion therapy is, who it impacts, and how you can help #BanConversionTherapy. 🧵⬇️
Conversion therapy is the harmful practice of attempting to change, "cure", or suppress someone’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Although the word "therapy" might suggest something positive/helpful, there's nothing good about trying to change someone's identity.
Conversion therapy continues to impact LGBTQIA+ people living across the world, including in the UK.

The National LGBT Survey found that 7% of respondents have been offered or undergone conversion therapy.

It is almost unbelievable that conversion therapy is still legal in the UK, but the end is finally in sight. Ahead of a public consultation on a ban, some of the UK's top legal minds have come together to recommend what an effective ban should look like. #BanConversionTherapy 👇
One of the biggest concerns around the proposed conversion therapy ban is the potential for loopholes that may allow abusive practices to continue. This new report shows the way forward to prevent this, and to protect LGBTQ+ people across the country.
Named after renowned human rights barrister Jonathan Cooper OBE who died during the writing of the report, the Cooper Report was commissioned by @OzanneFoundn to urge the Government to act now and #BanConversionTherapy.

The new guidance on trans inclusion in sport, released by the Sports Councils Equality Group, makes some harmful assumptions.

It assumes that there is an inherent conflict between inclusion, fairness and safety. In reality, the three go hand in hand.

Amidst the current manufactured moral panic around trans people, it's important that governing bodies' policies are based on solid evidence about the reality of sport & inclusion.

The new guidance fails to properly reflect that safe, fair trans inclusion in sport already exists.
The truth is that trans women are already participating in sports, without any evidence of unfair advantages or safety risks.

The guidance fails to properly reflect that in its data, and serves only to create confusing distinctions for sporting bodies to navigate.
