You said – internally about right, externally more work needs to be done to educate and inform the public.

We did - We will be working with forces to understand what their community programmes look like, share best practice and ensure a common minimum standard is achieved.

You said –what does that data say? Do a video about the course & dispel any preconceived ideas about it.

We did –asking the Q as part of the annual national data return. Working with partners to produce a short ‘what to expect’ vid featuring instructors, students & stakeholders

You said – policing is more dangerous. Police need to be accountable through Strategic Threat & Risk Assessment

We did - the 1st national CED STRA is about to be published enabling Chief Officers to determine
threat/risk considering specialist equipment, personnel & training.

You said – yes, every front line officer who wants one should get one - but maintain standards.

We did – publication of the new CED STRA will support this but it is important to reiterate that there is still no move to make CEDs personal protective equipment (PPE) at this time.
