Ahead of his sentencing tomorrow afternoon, an attorney for Bradley Rukstales is arguing that his client doesn’t deserve prison time because, unlike Jenna Ryan, he’s actually remorseful. huffpost.com/entry/jenna-ry…
In a defense sentencing memo earlier this month, Rukstales’ attorney said the fired tech CEO will not be able to escape the "shameful reality” of his crime and that his "public and professional demise sends a strong message to anyone who might attempt such conduct in the future."
Unlike Jenna Ryan, Bradley Rukstales’ attorney argued in a new filing today, the former tech CEO has "consistently and publicly expressed remorse for his participation.” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
Brad Rukstales’ daughter told the court that she and her father "disagree politically” and she does "not condone his actions,” but that her father has now "learned his lesson."
The government also sought 45 days for a Capitol defendant who scaled a wall and yelled at cops inside the rotunda, but he ended up with two years probation.

A Defense Department contractor with a secret security clearance charged in connection with Jan. 6 used his work computer to search “Capitol building layout, guns, rifle scopes, lasers, Trump protests, FBI Capitol,” feds say.
Hearing underway for James Mault and Cody Mattice. Mattice’s lawyer expresses interest in resolving the case quickly. Says he’s “confident” they’ll come to a speedy resolution (aka a plea agreement). #IronWorkerGuy#CodyFromRochesterhuffpost.com/entry/cody-mat…
James Mault was interviewed by the FBI in January, before they knew about footage of him assaulting cops. He then reenlisted in the U.S. Army. He was arrested at Fort Bragg last month. huffpost.com/entry/james-ma…
Mattice is in D.C. jail, but Mault is in Virginia somewhere.
Sentencing at 1:30 for Boyd Camper, who brought his 10-year-old son to D.C. on Jan. 6 but left him outside the Capitol when he went inside. Feds are seeking two months incarceration.
DOJ: "Camper shared his belief that the protesters were 'set up’… Camper then stated he believed several busloads of Antifa members, escorted by State Police, were brought to the Capitol to wreak havoc.”
"He said he ran his mouth, was in a bad state, and did not want his words used against him. Camper reiterated he was in a military state of mind and felt he implicated himself because he sounded like he was trying to take over the place…” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
BREAKING: Trump fanatic Lonnie Coffman — who wanted to "help with the election fraud” and had a truckload of weapons in D.C. on Jan. 6 — has pleaded guilty to two felonies. One more plea to come.
Weapons found inside Coffman’s truck: “loaded 9 mm Hi-Point handgun; a loaded Windham Weaponry rifle; a loaded Hatfield Gun Company SAS shotgun; several large capacity ammunition feeding devices loading with more than ten rounds of rifle ammunition…"
“...hundreds of rounds of ammunition; a crossbow with bolts; several machetes; camouflage smoke devices; stun gun” and 11 Molotov cocktails. huffpost.com/entry/capitol-…
There’s a chance a plea agreement for Trump enthusiast Lonnie Coffman might go off the rails here after Coffman claimed that the 11 Molotov cocktails found in his truck on Jan. 6 were not operational. Coffman talking with his lawyer now.
They’re still trying to figure out how to do a Zoom breakout room.
Coffman says the mason jars with gasoline had been in his truck for a long time and admits assembling them.
“I did not plan on blowing up nothing or nothing like that,” Coffman says, but he agrees they could’ve been used for that purpose.
