Making functional parts with 3D printing resin, a thread:
My latest project: was entirely made with Anicubic basic clear resin it gave me great results but many parts broke during the build, most of them while fastening bolts or adjusting parts.
Lots of people were surprised about how far I went with resin printed parts and complained about its brittleness. I just design the parts and handled them accordingly.
But. BUT. Recently, my friend @MAYERMAKES told me he was developing an engineering resin that was very tough. I need to disclose that he sent me a free sample but since then I bough two extra Liters with my own money. I designed a test print and gave it a go:
The resin is a bit more viscose than the usual and required a few more supports (first print detached from the supports) but it printed nice and easy.
The longer it is cured the stronger it is and a regular cure chamber will require a lot of time to cure it but you can always leave it in the sun. Either way it'll get stronger with the time if left in daylight.
Unscientific test number one: I managed to break the regular resin (right) by pulling the two bolts I couldn't manage to break it on @MAYERMAKES extreme strength resin (left), at least by pulling with my hands.
Then I did a shatter test, First with the regular resin:
I don't want to deceive anyone, I eventually ended up breaking it but that was a fairly strong whack and it didn't flinch, not a crack, not a mark.
This resin can be (and is encouraged) mixed with other resins and I'm gonna keep testing it and using it in my projects because it broke the last barrier for functional resin #3dprinting.
Now, if you want to know more about it go and give @MAYERMAKES a follow. Thanks for reading!
I forgot! The resin:

How do I clean the IPA I use in my resin printers? A thread:
The first thing is pour the dirty IPA in a bottle with a funnel and put it in the cure chamber for 60 minutes. After that the IPA looks cloudy and white (I only print with clear resin).
Then I pour the IPA on a plastic tub and wait around 15 minutes.
