1. Very illuminating list from @DefendingEd, a dark money group linked to the Koch political network, of what it claims is evidence of Critical Race Theory being taught in K-12 schools in Virginia
I want to highlight some examples of things they find objectionable
@DefendingEd 2. A Fairfax county social studies coordinator who says African-American history “deserves a truer and fuller account.”
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
3. A message from a high school principal that says: "While I did not come from a family with economic means, the color of my skin has given me privileges that others do not have."
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
4. A page on the Alexandria City Public Schools website called “Talking to your Children about Racial Justice”
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
5. A discussion at a school board meeting on whether teachers should be allowed to "take a clear position on matters that may be perceived as controversial in order to affirm the dignity and belonging of all students"
An example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
6. A Fairfax County School Board member posted a message on her personal Facebook page that was critical of Israel.
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
7. The Virginia Department of Education crafted “Social and Emotional Learning” standards (something that all 50 states have). SEL has proven academic and social benefits for students.
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
8. An effort "to consider how to modernize and update math instruction to Virginia’s K-12 students to prepare them all to be life ready and succeed in their post-secondary pursuits."
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
9 A program in Henrico County schools where Black teachers met as a group three times over the summer
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
10. A 5-year strategic plan by the Alexandria City School Board to create "a deliberately inclusive and supportive experience where all succeed"
This is an example of "Critical Race Theory," according to the group
11. I want to be clear that I'm NOT claiming that everything is perfect in Virginia schools. Specifically, the school system does appear willing to spend considerable amounts of cash on educational consultants that don't seem to have much to offer.
12. But there are a lot of schools and running a school system is difficult and not every dollar is spent wisely.
We should try to direct resources to things that will help students the most.
But that's very different from a conspiracy to indoctrinate kids
13. That said, there is a reason why people want to talk about "Critical Race Theory" instead of the things they actually oppose.
The details tell a much different story.

1. In an interview with the New York Times, Trump claimed that, as a result of the civil rights movement, white men have been "very badly treated" and subjected to "reverse discrimination."
Trump says that white men have been excluded from colleges and jobs.
Here is the TRUTH.
2. In 2024, the data shows, white people represented 40.7% of the applicants but 53% of the enrolled students.
In contrast, Black applicants accounted for 8.7% of the applicant pool but just 5.8% of enrolled students.
3. Most college applicants are female, so many institutions admit a higher percentage of men to ensure their student population is more evenly divided by gender.
For example, in 2023, Brown University’s acceptance rate was 6.9% for male applicants and 4.2% for female applicants.
3. In a January 5 letter to a federal judge, AG Bondi says 99% of the files have not been released yet because the review is ongoing and necessary to protect the privacy of the victims. This is the same task that Bondi said was initiated last February and completed in July.
1. Hundreds of corps that pledged to stop donating to members of Congress who voted to overturn the election on 1/6/21 have broken their promise over the last 5 years
But we've identified 10 promise keepers:
Farmers
Airbnb
Expedia
Nike
Clorox
Eversource Energy
Holland & Hart
Qurate
Whirlpool
Lyft
2. Notably, there has been no meaningful change in position among the current members who voted to undermine democracy. None has expressed regret.
So there is no principled justification to resume donations
2. In November 2025, Singer acquired Citgo, the U.S.-based subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-run oil company, for $5.9 billion. The sale was forced by creditors of Venezuela after the country defaulted on its bond payments.
3. Citgo owns three major refineries on the Gulf Coast, 43 oil terminals and other assets. By all accounts, Singer acquired these assets at a major discount. Advisors to the court that oversaw the sale valued Citgo at $13 billion.
2. In 2014, major networks also refused to air a speech by Obama about immigration reform, claiming it was too "partisan."
In 2022, broadcast networks declined to air a prime time speech by Biden on threats to democracy, saying it was too "political"
3. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Trump would address the country “about all of his historic accomplishments over the past year” and “all that he’s done to bring our country back to greatness.”
2. In a March 11 interview on Fox News, Kennedy Jr. claimed the MMR vaccine “does cause deaths every year,” including “all the illnesses that measles itself causes, encephalitis and blindness, et cetera.”
(According to the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Kennedy’s claims are false.)
3. In a March 3 interview on Fox Nation, Kennedy Jr. said that it is “very very difficult for measles to kill a healthy person.” Therefore, the best way to prevent measles is “to keep themselves healthy.”
