Countrywomen and men,
Today was yet another testament that the military dictatorship is on borrowed time, and definitely on its way out. They are simply very scared of the people.
After blocking us from addressing a radio program in Mbale, they teargassed our people, beat them up and harassed them in many ways. But I want to thank those who braved the teargas and beatings and joined us to listen to the message of change.
I want to thank all of you in all the areas we passed for the massive love. We do not take this for granted, well knowing that you braced so much intimidation for you to come out!
Tomorrow we shall address the people of Lango Sub-region on Radio Wa in Lira City, and thereafter address our mobilisation team. We hope the security forces here will behave with more logic and adhere to the law. Uganda will be free! #WeAreRemovingADictator

This morning we were supposed to appear on Wa Radio in Lira and then proceed to address the NUP Lango Sub-regional mobilisation teams. The program was cancelled on the orders of the RDC & DPC. The proprietors of the station were instructed not to host us! #WeAreRemovingADictator
We decided to proceed and engage with the station manager, but the police and military blocked us amidst heavy teargas and bullets. The great people of Lira turned out in large numbers to receive us and show strong disapproval of the regime's continous witch-hunt. Afwoyo matek!
Regarding our meeting with the mobilisation teams, our coordinators submitted the letter of notification to the DPC but the DPC sent them to the RPC who sent them to the IGP! You can imagine the level of fear the illegal regime has for the PEOPLE.
Gen. Museveni came on TV, admitted to the abductions of our people while downplaying the extent and effect! Like all tyrants, he pushed the narrative that all is well, with hundreds of mothers, fathers and siblings in tears over missing loved ones. Here's part 1 of the list:
"In towns, cities and villages, young men are disappearing, especially known supporters of NUP Platform. Grim accounts are emerging from relatives, friends and former abductees about the unexplained disappearances." observer.ug/news/headlines…
"Many youths have been picked from their homes in the dead of the night by gun-wielding men, others have been grabbed off the streets in broad daylight while others have simply run and gone into hiding."
"On December 29, Lubega attended a burial. On his way back, he was grabbed by unknown people and taken to an undisclosed location. Although he faintly remembers how events unfolded....Lubega recalls feeling dazed, after taking a cup of tea with colleagues he had travelled with."
Our team has just finished assessing what has been stolen in broad daylight. Been informed that most of our forms with signatures for nominations have been taken away! They have also taken 23M ugx part of which was meant to facilitate our MP candidates with nomination fees.
They have also taken so many of our branding materials including posters, banners, berets, t-shirts, pens, notebooks, etc. Our CCTV cameras have been vandalised and equipment taken away. Some comrades have been arrested and most are being held at Kira Road police station.
I have also been informed that so many of our people who are selling NUP branding materials in town are being arrested with reckless abandon.
Instead of weakening us comrades, let these actions strengthen us and increase our resolve.
I've seen gross pictures of a young man who was allegedly attacked by unknown people, hit on the head & had his hands nailed! According to a statement released by police, the 21 year old victim is called Kasumba Baker, resident of Kawempe.
If this is true, we condemn it in the strongest terms. @KagutaMuseveni & his regime got power by using extreme violence on our people & have sustained themselves in power through extreme violence.
As citizens of Uganda, no matter how much we get provoked by this regime, we must not fall into the trap of resorting to violence, because as the history of our country has showed us, violence only leads to more violence and the cycle never ends.
Friends,
The situation at One Love Beach is tense. It has been turned into a war zone. As if the raid last night was not enough, this morning they blocked the roads leading to the Beach and announced that our Boxing Day show is off. [THREAD]
Our fans who had started gathering have been dispersed with tear gas and water cannons. As I said, yesterday they did the same thing and disrupted two concerts at which I was meant to perform.
Up to now, we have not been given any official reason as to why the show was blocked, because we wrote to police long ago and complied with all legal requirements.
