visualisation of 41,781 tweets, replies, quote-tweets and retweets using the hashtags #melbourneprotest#qanoncult or #dontcryprguy from 15,677 accounts over roughly a week - partly honing a map type that shows both tweets and accounts as nodes, with tweet text as labels.
the faction-based map of 41,781 tweets/rts/replies/quote-tweets over the past week concerning protests in Melbourne against a parliamentary bill on special powers in the event of a pandemic. tweets incoroporated the hashtags #qanoncult or #melbourneprotest or #dontcryprguy
Looking at these visualisations over time, as protests appear to have grown in Melbourne against COVID measures, so has the associated twitter community. The pro Labor, pro-govt community is still more tight-knit and co-ordinated, but now more accounts tweet in opposition to it.
also, while one community is closely party affiliated - extremely supportive of and aligned with the party in govt in Victoria - the (blue) right-wing community is ~not affiliated with the right-wing Liberal party or the conservative federal government. neither is driven by bots.
final map of 42k tweets incorporating hashtags #melbourneprotest#dontcryprguy or #qanoncult, used in the context of recent anti-COVID measures protests in Melbourne, this time with labels sites linked out to, positions in the map indicating which community links to it.
