Yesterday evening (Monday 15 November) at about 7.40pm central time, the LaPorte @_NETPower demonstration facility achieved synchronisation with the ERCOT grid for the first time—closing the breakers and delivering power to customers.
It's a new chapter in the fight to #endclimatechange, and it’s a Wright-brothers-first-flight kind of breakthrough for energy.
The creation of a novel system of power generation is a vanishingly rare event, and it can be transformational too—the last major breakthrough in power was NGCC, and today that produces hundreds of GWs globally, all of which the Allam-Fetvedt Cycle renders functionally obsolete.
I couldn’t be more tremendously proud of the team that have built this, and unfortunately there are far too many to list on Twitter—but you all know who you are are at both @_NETPower and @8riverscapital, and I’m thankful for all of you.
So now onto the next challenge: we all get to build it, as many as possible, as fast as possible, and we if we do that, we can move the needle on climate change and actually decarbonise the world.
