I worked hard for #Youngkin and I thought mask mandate would come off the kids on day one too. I think masking is anti-science and child abuse. But I’m trying to take a look at this from a higher level and see what I’m possibly missing. (Thread)
I hear #Youngkin saying he won’t mandate masking. He focuses us on our local elected officials, what they decide, how they represent us. Remember that was what was wacked originally. We thought we could lobby them and petition them and they told us it was coming from Richmond (2)
What happens when focus back on our local elected officials? It holds them accountable once again. We have some boards that will hear parents mask concerns and act. We have some boards who have majority parents wishing masking to continue,so it will. But…(3)
We have a few local boards unresponsive to parents & enacting their own agendas.Parents in these areas have organized and are already enacting recalls.Hearts and minds are being won but renegade boards have had the cover of Richmond to hide under. No more with #Youngkin (4)
Isn’t that what parents have said? Our school boards represent us and must listen to us? #Youngkin enables us to fix long term the problem and does not circumvent it. Not the easy fix we’d hoped, but restores accountability on all levels. I believe even though I’m in NoVA….(5)
I believe my VA school board (even though mixed in their masking votes) will get the representation of our district right. The majority will side with removing masks we are told, but they’ve cited the rabid health dept directive set by Richmond. (6) so…
My concern, like I’ve written before, is my Gov #Youngkin remove the power of this unelected bureaucrat health dept person and let our board do what they promised us they would. I think I’m hearing him say this is what he will do? (7) so…
If most boards are responsive in our Commonwealth to their constituents we then have a few renegade boards to fix,is that the issue? Of those, many are already tackling that problem? Some need help in recall efforts and getting new responsive boards elected? Can we do this? 8) &
Has #Youngkin focused eyes back on how our local official reflect our values and beliefs? How important these local elections are? How we must bring hearts and minds on kitchen table issues to unify and win? Isn’t that a fix that strengthens our system long term? (9) BUT
My concern remains unelected health department &other renegade agencies gumming up the works with outside demands tying our local elected officials’ hands. Will @GlennYoungkin remove these obstructions on masking and vax so our boards again have full accountability to us?(10) then
Can our Commonwealth not bite the new hand that feeds us, who we worked hard to elect? Can we work united to change out the renegade boards through processes in place and working. Can we unite to help districts strengthen & get recall efforts going & needed candidates elected?(11)
The question is ..will #Youngkin remove impediments Richmond put on our boards to force accountability to their electorate? Will this not cause immediate relief for MOST of our kids/families?Handwriting is on wall.Any unresponsive board mbr needs to change or step aside now (12)
