Rittenhouse killed two people and maimed another. He never disputes that.
Simpson’s case was incredibly circumstantial. All the puzzle pieces obviously fit but you still had to assemble them.
Our best shot at Cosby was literally his confessing ,which the prosecutor then used against him.
Also, Cosby/OJ are hardly American heroes. Whereas, Fox News and Republicans will embrace Rittenhouse.
Fox News is talking about Rittenhouse suing for defamation. However, I recall the 24-hour news cycle beginning during the Simpson trial and pretty much everyone talked about how guilty he was for a year straight.
Bill Cosby ain’t speaking at the DNC any time soon.
Rittenhouse got the Roxie Hart treatment: This trial made him a star.
OJ/Cosby are pariahs.
Even if they got off legally, they lost everything that mattered to them. No more Naked Gun movies. No more “America’s Dad.” There is some small justice there.
Rittenhouse has killed his way to notoriety and *respect.* While Republicans in 2013 might’ve cheered Zimmerman’s acquittal, they didn’t offer him internships.
Also, to the extent that money and power can get *anyone* (white or Black) off, Rittenhouse was a nobody from nowhere. It’s not like the jury had to forget that he was once in a TV sitcom they liked. “No, he’s not really the adorable kid from THAT’S OUR KYLE!"
Chris Rock put it best: If OJ hadn’t been a celebrity and (most importantly) wealthy, he wouldn’t have been acquitted. He wouldn’t even have been “OJ.” He’d be “Orenthal the Bus Driving Murderer."
Also, for the record, Judge Ito was a putz but he wasn’t openly in the tank for OJ. And it’s not like the cops who arrested Rittenhouse were members of the Nation of Islam and there was evidence of potential bias, etc.
People like to dismiss Johnny Cochran as a shyster but he’s actually a solid lawyer who outclassed the prosecution at every point. And the prosecution actually tried to convict OJ.

In 1996, if you’d said that in 20 years, HRC would be the Democratic presidential nominee, you could also have likely predicted that working class whites (both men and women) would bail on the Democratic party. That doesn’t mean HRC was so fatally flawed candidate.
Bill Clinton was a great politician, sure, but it’s not like HRC was drastically more to the left than he was. Arguably, the ways that she was more to the left involved her centering of racial justice and feminism.
But the Carvilles, et al, are wrong when they imply that HRC ignoring racial justice/feminist issues (abortion rights) would’ve ensured she performed like Bill Clinton in 1996.
Kennedy was a Democrat in 2004 who supported John Kerry. HRC receives a lot of criticism bc she lost in 2016 but even while Obama won twice, there was a steady defection to the GOP from white Dems like Kennedy over the past 20 yrs
I sold programs/souvenirs at Grease for a while. Now, every other theatre let you lock up your station during the show so you could leave if you wanted. (You technically worked a half hour before the show, during intermission, and right after the show).
The theatre for Grease didn’t let you lock the stands. You had to stay and watch the whole show. I did that 8 times a week.
Republicans are consistent and upfront about *why* they want total, unified government control: Democrats are radical socialists who will destroy the country if given power.
I sounded this alarm in 2020 and I will sound it again for 2022. If Democrats are asking voting for total government control, they need to make the affirmative case that Republicans should never govern.
Instead, there are Democratic partisans still complaining that young people/the left didn’t turn out in 2000, 2004, 2010, 2014, 2016
