A community fridge and pantry are a type of mutual aid project that enables food to be shared within a community. We encourage anyone can put food in and take food out without limit and hope to reduce the stigma from its use. The fridge is open to the public 24/7. 2/n
The main aim of community fridge and pantry is to reduce food insecurity, while also mitigating food waste. We want to ensure that everyone has easy access to fresh, nutritious food. We aim to offer a wide range of food from canned goods to fresh produce to pre-cooked meals. 3/n
We also have offer personal care items to further reduce to burden of poverty and support low-income community members. These items include menstrual products, dental hygiene, soaps, diapers, and other toiletries. 4/n
Community members can also leave requests for items they may need on our whiteboard! 5/n
We are maintained by a network of volunteers and community members and have support from local businesses. The fridge and pantry are sanitized and checked twice daily! 6/n
