If your forearms aren't too big to roll your sleeves up, you are no Man

Training forearms is very simple

You only need two exercises to train your forearms

A Thread 🧵
Forearm anatomy

There are four major muscles in your forearm

1. Flexors
2. Extensors
3. Rotators
4. Brachioradialis

Flexors are on the same side of your palm

Extensors are on the other side

Brachioradialis is a part of biceps, though it runs into your forearm
To understand the anatomy, lets see the function of these muscles

Imagine you extending your arm to take a pledge

1. Flexors- Moves your palm downwards

2. Extensors- Moves your palm upwards

3. Rotators- Used to supinate and pronate your wrist
For hypertrophy of the forearm, it is enough to train your flexors and extensors

Exercises

1. Flexors

DUMBBELL WRIST CURLS

2. Extensors

DUMBBELL REVERSE WRIST CURLS

Right picture below
Dumbbells are better than barbell because

1. The movement of your wrists will be more natural

2. You need not keep your arms parallel to each other like you do when using barbell
A note on Brachioradialis

Though this muscle forms a major part of your forearm, it actually assists the biceps in moving your elbow and not your wrist

Why is water important for humans?

Your body is made up of 50-70 % of water

Males have more water weight than females as males has more muscle mass

Fun fact:
Your muscle mass is made up of 70% water but fat mass is just 10% water Image
Functions of water:

1. Water is a major component of your blood plasma

It transports nutrients to your cells and tissues

Also expels waste out of your body as urine

2. Amniotic fluid acts as a cushion and protects that fetus

3. Water also cools your body by sweating Image

What is Protein?

Protein is a very large molecule made up of Amino Acids

Just like glucose is building block of carbohydrates

Amino Acids are building blocks of Protein

A chain of 50 or more Amino acids is called a Protein Image
Now, What are Amino Acids?

Amino Acids are molecules with:

One Amino group ( NH2)
One Carboxyl group (COOH)
One UNIQUE SIDE group

This UNIQUE SIDE group gives each Amino Acid its unique identity

We have 20 Unique side groups and so we have 20 Amino Acids Image

Too many threads on how to lose fat

Not enough threads on how to train in the gym

Here is a technical thread on how to train your biceps

1. Respect your natural carrying angle Image
The carrying angle is the angle between your upper arm and your lower arm

This angle decides how wide your forearms go away from your body

Performing too many bicep curls against your natural carrying angle causes elbow pain

This is one of the reasons to avoid barbell curls
Tips for training your biceps based on biomechanics

1. Use dumbells and cables to train your biceps

2. If you want to use a barbell either use the EZ bar or hold the barbell at your natural carrying angle

3. DO NOT use the wide or narrow grip on barbells

You can finish your back workout with just 3 exercises under 30min

1. Single arm Lat Pull down

This exercise targets your Lats

You have to align the line of pull from the cable (green line) with the direction of your lat muscle fibres (orange line)

DO NOT lean back twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
2. Chest Supported T bar row

This exercise is to train your upper back muscles

Flare your elbows out and use pronated grip

Other alternatives if you don't have this machine

a. Hammer Strength Iso lateral rows
b. Landmine rows

Landmine row setup in the next tweet twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Landmine row setup

Only do this if you don't have access to a chest supported row

Use the below setup with two modifications

Use angles 90 like grips for pronated grip and elbow flared to target the upper back

Shift the grip on the barbell to the inner side Image
