.@childrenswi says as the pediatric trauma center they treated 18 kids injured in the #waukeshaChristmasParade they will be holding a virtual briefing at 11amCT
Statement from @MayorOfMKE “Milwaukee shares its deepest condolences with our neighbors in Waukesha. Yesterday should have been a time of seasonal joy. Instead, we are all praying for the injured and mourning those who were killed.”
we are expecting a live update at 1pm from authorities wisn.com/article/waukes…
WISN 12 law enforcement sources identified the suspect as Darrell Brooks Jr., 39, of Milwaukee.
According to online court records, he posted $1k bond on Friday 11/19 related to charges of 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Bail Jumping-Felony but his criminal past goes
to 1999, much more to unpack on this
12 News has obtained new court documents which say Brooks was charged earlier this month with punching then running over the mother of his child in a gas station parking lot, the woman went to the hospital and officers noted, tire tracks on her pants. Brooks had 2 open
felony cases at the time of the deadly holiday parade horror
This just in: Milwaukee County DA's office says they are currently doing an internal review on the decision to lower bail to $1k
and to clear up some confusion on his release from jail Sheriff’s department confirms his bail was posted on the 11th and he was released on the *16th*, which was last Tuesday.
DA's office "The State’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the
recent charges and the pending charges against Mr. Brooks. The bail recommendation in this case
is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County District
Attorney’s Office toward
matters involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant
prior to setting of bail. "
Attorney for Brooks on Milwaukee open felony cases says he was appointed after the $1k bail was set, when asked if he thought it was low, he told me he can’t comment without Brooks’ consent, but that he hasn’t spoken to him and will not be representing him regarding Waukesha
.@WaukeshaPD expected to refer 5 counts of first degree intentional homicide for 39 year old Darrell E Brooks, many more charges could come down as well. Age ranges of deceased victims 52-81
Tire tracks remain in #Waukesha yard. Neighbors say the suspect Brooks drove through a yard blocks from the parade route and dumped the suv before running off.
Several @carrollu students called 911 and police towed the vehicle
.@WISN12News has learned, the same day Brooks was released from #Milwaukee County Jail 11/16, @WaukeshaSheriff transported him to #Waukesha on a paternity warrant, they released him a few hours later. This is his Waukesha County mugshot from 11/16
The banged up SUV also has a bullet hole in the front windshield, Police say an officer fired at Brooks as he drove off, Brooks was not struck
Darrell Brooks' latest mug shot, he's due in court this afternoon @WISN12News will be there

Today it begins. The Kyle Rittenhouse trial. I am stationed in a media room for jury selection today. Begins at 9am. So far we have seen Rittenhouse’s mother enter the courthouse. ImageImageImage
We will only see the Judge on camera today, as to prevent not revealing any identities of the men and women summoned for this case. Image
This will be my view of jury selection today. Reporters are on a rotation for courtroom seating, meanwhile Judge Schroeder still quizzing jurors with random jeopardy questions, as he gives potential jurors bathroom break before they start Image
