As food delivery soared during the pandemic, so did accidents. We @TRF_Stories asked drivers in five countries to tell us their stories.

A team effort, led by @linnytayls, with @anniebanerji, @nanchanokw, @KimHarrisberg, @UmbertoBacchi and me. tmsnrt.rs/3xdFPUu
The common thread among all stories is a lack of support from companies, that quickly discard workers after they get injured. Douglas, the driver I spoke to in Brazil, told me he felt like a plastic cup. "When a plastic cup gets dirty, it gets thrown away."
Always good to remind people that food delivery companies in Brazil are under investigation for using children to deliver food. My question is: what happens if a child gets into a serious accident?
One of them almost did, as told by me in this story from December 2020: news.trust.org/item/202012030…
