VOW is extremely bomb-heavy, right? Actually, it might not be quite as extreme as people are making it out to be. 1/x 
We estimate that each bomb* added to a deck improves our users' chances of getting a trophy (7 wins) by about 4.9 percentage points. That's a lot, but it's not outside the range of recent sets. 2/x
KHM was the lowest at 3.4pp, followed by MID and AFR at 3.7pp. ZNR was at 4.4pp, and STX was more extreme by this metric than VOW at 5.0pp. 3/x
Bombs certainly help, but plenty of people are getting solid records with decks built around commons and uncommons. 4/x
*Our list of "bombs" are rares + mythics with the top GIH WR in Bo1. Each set includes ~18 rare-equivalents (mythics count as 1/8 of a rare because they show up less frequently). The VOW list goes from Avabruck Caretaker (67.6% GIH WR) to Manaform Hellkite (59.8%). x/x
