Don’t think I’ve ever been so tired, was late off work the last three days.

My plantar fasciitis has returned, add in a very sore knee

About half the theatres are closed but thankfully we are still looking after day case patients
But there is no light at end of the tunnel

Covid patients are staying in ICU for 20-30+ days, meaning there is no likelihood of beds for patients requiring major surgery
So they may end up getting their surgery performed in private hospitals but does that mean the patients in those hospitals being cancelled
We do not discriminate, we will continue to care for vaxxed and unvaxxed patients. Same as we care for the obese, smokers, alcoholics, drug abusers

We don’t have a choice
But we are running on empty.

Somebody has to stop the march of this dreadful virus.
Be it modifying our behaviour slightly, staying home if we feel unwell. Maybe close schools for 2wks, encourage children to mask in school
Stop pandering to the hospitality industry until they insist on checking certs AND id
OR partners encourage their pregnant partners to get vaccinated?

What can you or your family do, to beat this bloody virus and get some semblance of normality back @CovidWomenVoice

@MichealMartinTD ICU nursing is care of the unconscious ventilated patient.

They are sedated, paralysed so they tolerate the endotracheal tube that is connected to their ventilator, which breathes for them

If that tube is dislodged, your patient becomes hypoxic (loses oxygen)
Could end up brain damaged or die

Your patient is unconscious, requires total nursing care, washing/turning/keeping warm or cold
They are attached to monitors, ecg leads, an oxygen probe (Sats) on a finger, an arterial line in a wrist for continuous blood pressure reading, a central line in their chest
