Another Japanese right wing Twitter tactic is to intentionally mistranslate a post and then tell the original poster they don't know what they said. It's a bit like gaslighting.
The ring leader, usually a non-anonymous account who choses the next target with their mistranslation, takes advantage of the fact that most followers (almost always anonymous!!) are only fluent in Japanese and don't care what the original actually says anyway.
Then when the original poster exposes the fabrication, they will say it's an excuse or lie.
In this twisted logic, the only arbiter of truth is the ring leader. The original poster is given no say in whether the translation of their words is accurate.
