Dystopian censorship continues, undermining society’s — and science’s — mechanisms for finding truth.

It would be deeply unethical and arguably illegal even if YouTube were doing it as a private business because they’re a public accommodation, but they’re working with the feds.
The argument against Big Tech censorship.

0/ A friend attends a once-a-month social club, and has been for many many years. They now will require a vax pass.

Here’s a letter I fashioned for my friend.
1/ “Respectfully, I will no longer be attending the meetings due to your intrusion in the personal business of others. The decision to vaccinate is a consensual one between each individual and his or her doctor.
2/ Furthermore, the following observations undermine any logic even behind the unethical decision you have made.

(a) Vaccinated people have some significant degree of protection. Why some should feel vulnerable AFTER receiving a vaccination is best described as a psychosis.

I’m often using the Jews as an ethnic example of the “unclean” targets of irrational psycho-societal forces of groupthink, but much closer to home, and in time, is the experience of African-Americans, who still experience lingering irrational discrimination via the same forces.
Once these narratives get up and running, post-hoc “justifying” why those in the outgroup are “bad,” it is very VERY difficult to stop them.

That’s something we’re studying at our new research institute, FreeX — FreeX.group
I discuss why social narratives are so tough to undo here.

I was never anti-vax, but as the term now refers to anyone against coerced medicine and for informed consent, they’ve made the term apply to anyone understanding freedom and the dangers of the mob.

New study purports to show that wearing a face mask makes almost no difference in the recognition of emotional expressions.

THIS is a great example of how a narrative post-hoc justifies the goodness of its virtue signals.

h/t @SeriousSkeptic
@SeriousSkeptic And the study is being predictably used to support the obviously false notion that masks don't hinder recognition of emotional expressions.

Here I discuss the psycho-societal "physics" leading to such post-hoc "justifications" of a groupthink.

Why remember the Holocaust if every time the same underlying psycho-social forces of totalitarianism occur you’re not allowed to point out the similarities?

On the many tweets about a seeming rise in deaths among young athletes, we need data on base rate for that demographic before 2020.

Otherwise, hard to know what to say about it.
If we’re really Team Rationality, then we can’t jump to the conclusion that there are more deaths in this demographic merely because we’re hearing about them this year—there’s now a keen interest in collecting such cases worldwide. Other years they’d just be local news stories.
Making this mistake is exactly the same mistake the Covid hysterical made last year, having no sense of proportion on the true burden of death each winter season.
