The US gov. mass detain migrant children who arrive at the border without a legal guardian. 90% of these kids have family they’re trying to reunite with. While ICE investigates these families, the feds pay orgs like Heartland to lock these children up.
Former staff at Heartland baby jails testify that what these detention centers do is a “legalized form of kidnapping.” As this system of detention expands nationally, so do Heartland’s profits.
By accepting Heartland's money, @theknocks is complicit in covering up child detention. When asked in an Instagram DM, James Patterson denied that he was playing, but refused to make a public statement. As of now, Heartland Alliance still lists him as playing their brunch.
