I've worked with 15+ founders (starting from 10k ~ 100k) to scale their audience and build their brand.

Here are my top learnings 👇
1. Story first, thought leadership second.

No one cares about your thoughts on FinTech until you tell them your experience building your FinTech Startup.


• How you grew from 0-X users
• How you navigated X hurdle


2. Counter-content wins

People respond (like/retweet) to two types of content on Twitter (h/t @julian) :

• Counter-intuitive: "I never realized the world worked that way."

• Counter-narrative: "That's not how I was told the world worked!"


3. Quantify everything

You need to stand out on the timeline. You have ~3 seconds to grab someone's attention.

The truth: People respond to results and statistics.


• How we grew to X employees
• How we raised $ X


4. Identify your Content ICP

Much like how you need an ideal customer profile for your product, you'll need the same for your content.

Brainstorm: who am I reaching with each thread? What will they find valuable?

Example (ICP: New/Early Founders):

5. Claim digital real estate

Own phrases on the internet.

Then whenever people begin talking about topics adjacent to that, you are always brought into the conversation.

6. Find Pockets of Consistency

Life as a founder is busy.

Content is probably one of your lower priorities.

But if you can spend an hour a week writing/sharing a quick update. It can create unknown upside.

7. Journey > Product

Unless Twitter is a primary growth channel for your product, share your experiences growing your startup instead of advertising your product.

People care about your interests/learnings > your startup/product.


8. Education > Accomplishments

Your content should empower others.

No one wants to hear you brag, but you can impress them AND help them when you frame it into applicable advice.

1. Protect your attention from the algorithm.

Twitter is geared to try and serve content they think you like, not content that will create a positive impact for you.

To protect your attention:

• Regularly Mute Conversations
2. Build Twitter Lists

The Twitter timeline is scattered. One second you are learning about NFTs, the next the best coffee shop in NYC.

Lists create content silos that allow you to build deeper understanding of the topics you actually care about.

The problem is people can't find others that push them to grow.

Announcing: Maker's Mark

Building on Twitter has allowed me to:

Maker's Mark is a cohort-based course on how to effectively create content and network online.

I'm teaching this with @aaditsh, someone I am grateful to have met through the internet and live proof of the networking potential on Twitter.
