I've worked with 15+ founders (starting from 10k ~ 100k) to scale their audience and build their brand.

Here are my top learnings 👇
1. Story first, thought leadership second.

No one cares about your thoughts on FinTech until you tell them your experience building your FinTech Startup.

Topics:

• How you grew from 0-X users
• How you navigated X hurdle

Example:

2. Counter-content wins

People respond (like/retweet) to two types of content on Twitter (h/t @julian) :

• Counter-intuitive: "I never realized the world worked that way."

• Counter-narrative: "That's not how I was told the world worked!"

Example:

3. Quantify everything

You need to stand out on the timeline. You have ~3 seconds to grab someone's attention.

The truth: People respond to results and statistics.

Topics:

• How we grew to X employees
• How we raised $ X

Example:

4. Identify your Content ICP

Much like how you need an ideal customer profile for your product, you'll need the same for your content.

Brainstorm: who am I reaching with each thread? What will they find valuable?

Example (ICP: New/Early Founders):

5. Claim digital real estate

Own phrases on the internet.

Then whenever people begin talking about topics adjacent to that, you are always brought into the conversation.

Example:

- @david_perell and "Personal Monopoly"
- @gaganbiyani 👇

6. Find Pockets of Consistency

Life as a founder is busy.

Content is probably one of your lower priorities.

But if you can spend an hour a week writing/sharing a quick update. It can create unknown upside.

Example (Monthly MRR Updates):

7. Journey > Product

Unless Twitter is a primary growth channel for your product, share your experiences growing your startup instead of advertising your product.

People care about your interests/learnings > your startup/product.

Example:

8. Education > Accomplishments

Your content should empower others.

No one wants to hear you brag, but you can impress them AND help them when you frame it into applicable advice.

Topics:

• Fundraising key points
• Navigating obstacles

Example:

Quick disclaimer: The fact that I featured certain founders does not mean that I worked with/helped them in any way. (Though I would love to :D)

They simply had some of the best-in-class examples that I wanted to share with you all!

Everyone tells you that Twitter can unlock opportunities.

But 98% of my DMs are people asking how to start.

Here are 11 different examples of people changing their lives via Twitter 👇
This thread will contain 3 main categories:

Part 1: Using Twitter to find their dream job

Part 2: Using Twitter to accelerate their projects (companies, side projects etc.)

Part 3: Using Twitter to accelerate their careers
Part 1: Using Twitter to find their dream job

1. Example: @alyssaxuu

Outcome:
→ Shared her portfolio online
→ Found a FT role at Metal & met with Snap CEO, @evanspiegel

If leveraged quickly, Twitter can lead to life-changing opportunities, jobs, mentors, and friendships.

It did for me.

But 95% of people have no idea how to start.

Here's a thread of 13 tips to help you turn Twitter into your most valuable resource:
1. Protect your attention from the algorithm.

Twitter is geared to try and serve content they think you like, not content that will create a positive impact for you.

To protect your attention:

• Use Twitter Lists
• Block Trending Topics
• Regularly Mute Conversations
2. Build Twitter Lists

The Twitter timeline is scattered. One second you are learning about NFTs, the next the best coffee shop in NYC.

Lists create content silos that allow you to build deeper understanding of the topics you actually care about.

The best way to level up is to hang out with people 1-2 steps ahead of you.

The power of Twitter is that you can reach anyone.

The problem is people can't find others that push them to grow.

Here's 10 curated follows that consistently deliver amazing content:
Most people on Twitter have the wrong follower distribution.

They only engage with:

• Detractors who constantly argue with them
• Thinkers who often don't have practical, growth advice

They fail to cultivate a community of smart, interesting people they want to learn from.

Announcing: Maker's Mark

Building on Twitter has allowed me to:

- Work @beondeck
- Apprentice with @jackbutcher
- Find mentors and build friendships

Maker's Mark is a cohort-based course on how to effectively create content and network online.

makersmark.school
I'm teaching this with @aaditsh, someone I am grateful to have met through the internet and live proof of the networking potential on Twitter.

The course will be powered by Maven, and I'm grateful for the CBC platform that @gaganbiyani and @wes_kao are building.
My first interaction with Cohort-Based Courses was through Write of Passage with @david_perell.

The average completion rate of an online course is ~3-5%.

Of the 200+ students that joined the first Zoom call of Write of Passage, over 90% were on the last one.

I've interviewed 20 of the best founders, builders, and creators on Twitter.

Here's what I learned 👇
1. "The only way to escape and achieve financial freedom is to create something where you control the conversation.

I think what more people need to understand is that you don’t need permission to do work." — @jackbutcher

Create your dream job, without permission from anyone.
2. "All creativity is combinational in nature. I build a creativity inbox to collect ideas, then combine through idea sex, which creates new insights." — @anthilemoon

Create a system that brings disconnected ideas together, their interactions will drive new frameworks.
