I need to write an outline, which makes this the perfect time to procrastinate by diving into giving screenwriting advice on Twitter… 🧵/1 #screenwriting#tvwriting
What I talk about most in our room, and look for in script samples, is making a story PROPULSIVE. #screenwriting
Is your character driving towards something? And does each scene lead from one to the next, each one CAUSING whatever happens next?
I always prefer episodes that are all one day, because then the air doesn’t get let out by everyone going off to sleep and starting on their missions all over again.
Not everyone likes this kind of TV. But I do. I like big twists and turns, big emotions, daring moves, desperate needs.
Ask yourself, What is the new news in this scene? And how does the end of the scene drive your character to her next move?
Last word on this (for tonight) - keep characters standing whenever possible. On their feet, ready to move. Energy.
