We have to keep an open mind and be realistic.

Never in my life have i seen a situation whereby a subject vehemently insists "I must help you" even when the subject matter says "No thanks. Im good. My friend is here."

Lets not kid ourselves. The French war in
.. not just Mali, but the Sahel as a whole is a neo- colonial war of plunder. Withdraw French troops from Africa and watch insurgent groups gradually lose steam. The war in Mali, which will now involve German, EU and French allies has nothing to do with terrorism.
Rather, it is the continuation of the bloody 2011 NATO war in Libya, in which Paris armed Islamist and tribal militias against the Libyan government.

Lets take Syria as an example. Notice how NATO bizzare ties with militants in their proxy war in Syria.
On one side we had the Assad regime. A despotic but circular government that has the support of majority of Syrians, especially christain Syrians. On the other hand we had a mash ISIS and Al Qaeda linked militias on a bloodlust, decapitation people, burning them in cages alive
For some bizzare reason NATO deemed these terrorists benign and the Assad regime the devil, and went ahead funding what they called "moderate rebels" with money and weapons. Obama himself relleased $500 million to train and equip these 'moderate terrorists"
..even though the vast majority of Syrians would rather live under the Assad regime than under ISIS.
Where these ties became public knowledge and Republicans in Congress demanded an end to these funding of "moderate terrorists" the French government intensively courted Persian Gulf oil sheikdoms that fund Islamist terror networks but also buy large quantities of French weapons
and recycle their oil earnings into European financial markets.

The neo colonial war in Mali is an integral part of this looting of Africa and the Middle East. Placing French troops near Algeria’s massive natural gas reserves and Niger’s key uranium mines,
the war gave Paris lucrative strategic leverage across the region. Contemplate the reason behind this level of desperation. Of the colonial powers France remains the only country that never recorvered from WW2. Germany is the King of Europe with an export driven manufacturing
..sector. Britain is the financial capital of Europe, and second only to New York in the world. It also has a thriving Tech and Service industry, and like Germany is a self reliant. France on the other hand does not belong to the club of true industrialized economies.
Ever heard of the "Paris Syndrom"?France has flourished through the continuous exploitation of its former colonies and through the sale of arms to middle eastern countries. For this reason France continues to covertly aid terrorist groups.
Accusations of French economic plunder and complicity with terror groups is not a conspiracy theory. They are based on reality. The reality is that since the French invasion of Mali in January 2013, violence and the influence of Islamist militias have surged in Mali, Niger,
Burkina Faso and across the region. As it pursued a policy of divide and rule to maintain its control over the area, France and its NATO allies stoked ethnic conflicts and backed various rival militias, resulting in a resurgence of bloody massacres across the region.
Stopping the bloodshed depends on bringing French troops home, expelling imperialist influence from Africa. Ending neo colonial plunder.

What do you think explains Macrons restlessness in the last 12 month.
In May Macron went on an apology tour to Rwanda, where he said he recognised his country’s role in the Rwandan genocide and begged for forgiveness...and heres the catch

"seeking to reset relations"...

You get the picture. It screams lets start over. I don't want to leave,
In January Emmanual Macron ruled out issuing an official apology for abuses in Algeria.

QUOTE

There will be "no repentance nor apologies" for the occupation of Algeria or the bloody eight-year war that ended French rule,

END QUOTE
He said he would instead take part in "symbolic acts" aimed at.......here's the catch "promoting reconciliation"
In September President Emmanuel Macron finally apologised to Algerians.

QUOTE

I ask your forgiveness. We will continue to bandage the wounds as long as they haven't healed through words of truth.

END QUOTE
For those wondering why. Algerians who fought alongside French colonial forces in Algeria’s war for independence were massacred and ostracised as traitors.
Around 200,000 of them fought against their compatriots in the 1954-1962 conflict, and tens of thousands were killed after the French withdrawal. Some of them eventually fled to France. You would think their ordeal would be over at this point.....Think again.
They were rounded up and placed in camps, and many were denied access to school and other rights.
One month later in October, Algeria closes its airspace and threatened to shoot down any French aircaft that violated its airspace again as France repositioned thousands of its troops in the southern Sahara.
Throw in the endless to and fro shuttle diplomacy, offering military cooperation to many countries. Or pleading with Trump not to cut U.S support for French forces in West Africa warning that it could undermine efforts to counter a growing terrorist threat in the region.
They create an enabling enviroment for the terrorists. Arm the terrorists. Use these terrorists as a pretext to deploy French military forces in Africa, and use the growing threat of terrorists as a clever bit of subterfuge to secure U.S military support.

Very clever indeed.

Paul Melly, of the think-tank at Chattam House, London is coming to the defence of France by trying to blame ECOWAS. These guys are so out of touch.

QUOTE

A growing number of young people regard the ECOWAS as an incumbent presidents' club, too slow to criticise civilian
rulers who manipulate rules and unwilling to acknowledge the strength of popular support for promising reform. So in backing Ecowas as the legitimate African crisis management institution, France ends up being perceived as a prop for the old guard establishment.

END QUOTE
This is Paul Melly trying to paint France as the victim. Unfairly targeted. His views are an embodiment of how out of touch European powers are as regards Africa. The narrative is always the same " its the corrupt African governments. Its the Africans.

The greatest continuous theft in human history. Sixty years of continuous exploitation.
Remember folks. France holds $500 billion from 14 francophone states in its treasury every 12 months. This is the biggest continuous theft since God created planet earth. The high standard of living the French have been enjoying since the end of WW2 has been on the backs of
...impoverished African states. If you are France, will you let go without a fight?, especially when you have the strongest military in Europe, a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, ballistic missile submarines and 300 nuclear weapons. Sadly many choose to live in denial.
