The irony of the situation is that having NFTs, crypto, or P2E mechanics of the game wouldn't be enough.
I believe in LR just P2E mechanics are not enough. Games can use their inflationary token emission to bootstrap networks but it's akin to poor DeFi protocol with high APY.

In the SR, games focusing purely on P2E will do well.
1) Quick to market-don't have to spend multiple years to perfect gameplay.
2) Attracts native crypto users. In-game airdrops, staking, NFT, and the ownership of game assets (land, avatars) are akin to DeFi yield farming.

Gaming IMO will and always remain - P2J (Play to Joy) first.
Interesting gameplay, graphics, and ability of the game to produce joy will give the game competitive adv in the long run.
Crypto games should focus on this element rather than try to become the next @AxieInfinity.

$AXS revenue is declining. The main allure for gaming should be a combination of unique token economics + addictive gameplay.
To have addictive gameplay takes multiple years of in-game development. Even more, time, if your focus is on having AAA graphics.
