Accuser Number Four, "Carolyn," dropped out of school in 7th grade. She told a heart-wrenching story of being addicted to drugs and alcohol and having an alcoholic mother. She been convicted of a couple of felonies. She had a child at 16.

This is a terrible story of sheer poverty.

She says she couldn’t pronounce Ghislaine’s first name, so she always called her "Maxwell."

Carolyn was interviewed by the FBI in 2007 and sued Sarah Kellen and Epstein in 2009. You can see already in the opening minutes of the defense cross, they are going to very much focus on Virginia Roberts, who was the person who introduced Carolyn to Epstein as well as to Kellen.

Carolyn gave a very graphic account of how, when Virginia Roberts took her over to Epstein’s for the first time, Roberts had told her to dress provocatively and then, in front of Carolyn in the massage room, Virginia was nude, according to Carolyn, and had sex with Epstein.

You can see the defense is going to highlight the inconsistencies between Carolyn's statements in 2007 and 2009 and what she is saying now.

But you can also see what the prosecution is doing: telling a story that is repeating itself. Even though there are inconsistencies in each of these witnesses, essentially there is a pattern emerging of how the abuse occurred.

And it all follows the pattern outlined by Dr. Lisa Rocchio about how predators groom their victims.
