Mi-17V5 were used in the High altitude rescue operations, including the Siachen and those in the North- East regions, says Air Vice Marshal Sagar Bharati (RTD) who investigated Ex CM YSR chopper crash. He earlier served as AO Commandant in #Yelahanka Air base.

Well, Nilgiris are a difficult but known terrain to fly. Many years ago there were crashes reported amidst the mountains. However, the terrain is unlike the Himalayas.Nilgiris have certain unpredictable winds and air currents but not beyond the height that a Mi-17V5 can fly".
