#Morality is subjective and relative. What is good for one is evil for another. A yardstick is required.

Some would use their holy books in that capacity. That is a terrible idea. Such texts are replete with moral and logical errors.

A thread:
The yardstick must be fair for all. To this end, the Golden Rule is the best yardstick. Treat others the way you would be treated. Place others ahead of yourself and your beliefs. Give the respect to others you would expect.
The antithesis of this, selfishness at the expense of others, is the definition of moral crime. It is the root of all evil. The basis of every evil committed by humanity.
Be excellent to each other.

An important, deliberate omission:

...and the second is like unto the first...

Equivalency.

Loving your neighbour as yourself is like loving God.

Not loving your neighbour as yourself is like not loving God.

You cannot love God and not love your neighbour as yourself.
A brilliant summary of what the Christianity Equation means for Christians.

Some points to consider.

Jesus was asked for one answer, yet he gave two. And he drew equivalency between them.

He was speaking to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. He knew the religious leaders wouldn't get it.

So, get what?

I broke the bible.

I call it "The Christianity Equation". Two sayings of Jesus that when put together negate belief in anything else the bible has to say.

A thread:
Jesus was asked his opinion of what is the highest law. He gave two answers:

Love your God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself.

The highest law, above all others.

Sin is therefore defined as not loving your neighbour as yourself.
Talking about sin Jesus said that if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out and if your hand causes you to sin cut it off.

Metaphor: if something of great personal importance causes you to sin be rid of it.
