Dammit, this is interesting. Where I was sure “education” in Va campaign was only code for racist panic it really seems these women were chiefly concerned abt “learning loss”—among kids in special ed, notably—a legit concern McAuliffe shd’ve picked up on. cnn.com/videos/politic…
I have no doubt the CRT panic worked on single-issue segregation voters, but when Obama said discussion of education was JUST phony culture war, he missed a chance to at least recognize the enormous exertion of women who homeschooled in the pandemic.
It’s notable that these centrists are basically balking at the entrepreneurism required of them & their children for the last 20 months, and demanding better social services — public schools, tutoring, etc. Biden should be able to address these anxieties w BBB, New Deal thinking.
