For the record Mr Abramson, under The Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 rape is defined as nonconsensual penetration with a penis, so it cannot be committed by someone without male genitalia.

Quite apart from the psychological impact of a female victim being forced to refer to their male-bodied attacker as 'female' during any trial, this distortion of reality damages the accuracy of essential data on sexual assault.

@lnmackenzie1 of Scotland's leading independent feminist policy analysis group @mbmpolicy recently warned that, “For such offences, it will only take a few misclassified cases to skew the statistics.”

In the past I have admired your work on exposing Trump's crimes Mr Abramson, but on this matter you should do more research. Scots law is different from US law. Our feminist movement is stronger - we have much better maternity leave rights for example

and there is no serious move to end a women's right to choose, unlike in your country. There is a national debate in Scotland at the moment as to whether or not a man should be allowed to self ID as a women, as the current Scottish government wants to happen.

If you are interested in understanding this political and social debate, instead of just insulting a much-loved author and feminist, then I suggest you spend some time reading the work of @mbmpolicy and @ForwomenScot and other feminists. Oh perhaps read up on Scots law.
