You can tell some countries fully understood the assignment, while others, well, didn't. buzzfeed.com/mjs538/miss-un…
My favorite part of the Miss Universe pageant is the "national costume presentation," where participants dress in a costume that represents their country.
The 70th Miss Universe pageant was on Friday, and here are some of the most incredible costumes to hit the stage (and some of the lamest 😬):
Miss Australia:
In her her billowing blue gown and flower headpiece, she paid tribute to Australia's oceans and native
Miss Cayman Islands:
Wearing a dress inspired by the national flower, wild banana orchids, Miss Cayman Islands looked absolutely blooming
Miss Colombia:
Was inspired by not only the yellow butterflies of her country but also wanted to pay homage to the Disney film "Encanto" which is set in Colombia!
Miss Ecuador:
Spear in hand, cape flowing, headdress sitting strong, Miss Ecuador's costume paid tribute to a fertility goddess. It's also made out of plant materials!
Miss France:
In her giant feather plumes and little banana attachments, it's a no-brainer that this costume's inspo was french entertainer and activist Josephine Baker
Miss Iceland:
This hot strapless dress was inspired by a volcano in Iceland that erupted for 6 months straight this year
Miss Ireland:
As a registered nurse, Miss Ireland wanted to bring support for healthcare workers to the world stage
Miss Korea:
In a traditional Korean hanbok, Miss korea proves all that glitters really is gold ✨
Miss Laos:
Miss Laos managed to get 3 cultural symbols into her costume including: the national flower of Laos, a recreation of a buddhist stupa, and red Lao silk!
Miss Mexico:
This bedazzled look pays homage to Aztec culture apparently using over 1 million crystals to represent the Aztec calendar.
Miss Nigeria:
An oversized back piece designed to look a traditional mask completed this beautifully beaded and feather trimmed look
Miss Peru:
Yaaaassss Elsa give us everything!!! Miss Peru declared herself "The White Queen of the Andes" in this look paying homage to her birth site (which was at the foot of a volcano!)
Miss Philippines:
Inspired by a dragon famous in filipino folklore, Miss Philippines may have stolen the title "Mother of Dragons" from my girl Daeny
Miss South Africa:
Sleek and beautiful, Miss SA's look is supposed to be a dove because she wants to represent peace
Miss Ukraine:
A nod to the traditional embroidery of Ukraine, this costume was designed to look like an oversized embroidery hoop!
Some countries thats kinda missed the mark this year according to commenters: Canada, Hungary, Israel and Norway
Yesssss girl, give us nothinggggg!
And finally....Miss USA:
I'll let you decide if this Emmy inspired look made our best dressed or worst dressed list 🙂

Daniel Radcliffe's made it no secret that he doesn't stand with J.K. Rowling's anti-trans beliefs.
In June of 2020, the actor and Harry Potter star published an open letter on The Trevor Project's website, stating that "trans women are women."

If you're currently job hunting, chances are you've found yourself at your wit's end of the application process. They can be long, tedious, and often times you don't even get a response back.
Which is probably why this résumé "hack" is currently re-circulating around Twitter.
The hack is called "white wording," and it's a trick designed to outsmart most companies' Applicant Tracking Software. The software is designed to sort through job applications and choose the ones that align best with the job description.

You know Glee — you love Glee.
One of the classic TV show's more memorable (for all the wrong reasons 🥴) characters was glee club director and teacher Will Schuester — or Mr. Schue — who was played by Matthew Morrison.
The episode seemingly boiled Mexican culture down to sombreros, maracas, tacos, and "Juan" jokes. buzzfeed.com/angelicaamarti…
Earlier this week, Prue Leith took to Twitter to announce that the Great British Bake Off's theme for their next episode would be "Mexican week."
Yeah, yikes 😅
It's not that I don't think it's possible to do an episode like this with appreciation and respect for the culture, but I was fairly certain that wasn't the direction #GBBO would be going.
