Historic severe weather is threatening many parts of the country as @NWSSPC issues TWO never before seen forecasts.
Here’s what that means…
(1/6)
For the first time ever, a moderate risk for severe weather has been issued for Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin in the month of December.
(2/3)
This doesn’t mean that an event is going to occur but that conditions are ripe for a severe thunderstorm to develop.
But that’s not all...
(3/6)
In another first, an extremely critical fire weather outlook was issued across the Central and Southern Plains in the month of December.
(4/6)
It’s due to the threat of dangerous and extreme winds throughout the very dry region. In eastern Colorado, @NWSPueblo recorded a gust topping out at 107 mph just this morning.
(5/6)
The storms are fueled by unprecedented heat for the month of December.
According to @NWSWPC, areas in the Plains and Upper Midwest could see high temperatures 30 to 40 degrees above normal. For example, Oskaloosa, Iowa shattered state records when reaching a high of 79℉.
