🔊Post your Low End Tricks 🔊

**PARALLEL SATURATION/DISTORTION** - Copy a track and add saturation/distortion so the highs punch through. Blend that with the pure low end so you have the original sub/bass with a mid/high end cutting element.
#sounddesign #musicproduction
**COPY AND PITCH DOWN 1-2 OCTAVES** - A manual way to to do the lo-air trick. Duplicate a track, pitch it down and octave or 2, add a LPF filter and effects to get heavy weight to a sound that’s too thin.
**SIN WAV SUB** - Nothing punches a sub like a pure sine wave. Adding a pure sine tone to patches for music, or accentuating sound design with a pure sin hit always gets that bass hitting in a pure way.
A common mix trick is to use sidechaining to gate the sin sub.
**MIXING** -
Preventing cluttered bass helps a ton. Choosing which assets his the sub (30-60) and which occupies low end (60-90) then controlling muddy upper bass/low mids (90-200hz). Choices prevent overlapping freq. masking and lack of clarity.
Typically HPF 20-30.
**PLUGINS**

**RBASS** - When a sound lacks a single low fundamental frequency this plug in works great. I often add a multi band transient designer after it to further control how the low end is sculpted.
**SUBSYNTH** - One of my favorites. A bit more broadband and thicker than rbass. Works in a similar way, but gels together better.
**LO-AIR **- Essentially does the octave down+ filtering trick. A quick way to add in low end. I still use it, but often prefer to manually duplicate and pitch things down and filter them for more control.
**MAXXBASS** - Useful in a way similar to parallel processing in that it adds overtones helping low end translate to small speakers. Honestly I don’t use it anymore and stick with parallel processing instead.
