I very much appreciate Senator Manchin’s decision not to support Build Back Better, which stems from his understanding of the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis of the bill.
I’m also appreciative of CBO’s response to my and Congressman Smith’s request to score the bill without sunsets – which are in fact budget gimmicks.
The CBO analysis confirmed Senator Manchin’s worst fears about Build Back Better. He has always stated that he will not support a bill full of gimmicks, a bill that added to the debt or a bill that made inflation worse.
The CBO analysis of Build Back Better definitively determined without program sunsets, it would add $3 trillion to the debt and would cost $5 trillion over 10 years, which would have a detrimental effect on our current inflation problem.
It is now time for Congress to focus on roaring inflation, particularly in the energy sector, as well as a broken supply chain, and potential threats coming from the new COVID-19 variant.

The White House statement attacking Senator Manchin for deciding to vote no regarding Build Back Better is “Baghdad Bob” laughable.

The White House continues to repeat the lie that Build Back Better is fully paid for.
The CBO analysis is not fake and Build Back Better without budget gimmicks will add $3 trillion to the deficit.

Additionally the Green New Deal provisions in Build Back Better would dramatically increase energy costs, adding to inflation.
The true cost of Build Back Better — $5 trillion over 10 years, not $1.75 trillion — is the wrong medicine to address the ills of the nation’s economy.

When you think it can’t get any worse from the Biden Administration – it does.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to a question about stranded American citizens in Afghanistan by noting that the United States doesn’t track Americans abroad.
Her answer was not very reassuring to the families whose loved ones are trapped behind enemy lines under Afghan Taliban terrorists’ control because of the incompetence of the Biden Administration.
Expressing concern about Americans and our Afghan allies living in fear of the Afghan Taliban is not the same as tracking Americans abroad – helping those we left behind is the only action that a nation who believes in honor can take.

CBO has provided a true cost of the bill over ten years – assuming the programs never go away – which they will not.

Their analysis is stunning!

#BBB
The true cost of the bill has more than doubled and the effect on the deficit is eightfold.

This score should stop the effort to pass Build Back Better in its tracks because it will dramatically expand government and do great harm to energy production.
We’re calling on the Democratic Party to shelve Build Back Better to give the American consumer and economy breathing room to recover.

Like most in his generation, Bob Dole was willing to sacrifice everything for his country.
As a soldier, he suffered horrendous injuries for the cause of defeating Nazi Germany.

As a political leader, he was one of the strongest voices for a strong national defense and made America a better place.
He was instrumental in the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act because he understood their needs.

He led the Republican Party with honor and passion for common-sense conservatism.

He found middle ground when required for the good of our nation.

Signed on to legislation, the Protect American Taxpayer Dollars from Illegal Immigration Act, to prevent federal funds from being used for payments to illegal immigrants at the expense of hardworking American taxpayers.
According to published reports, the Biden Administration has proposed giving payments of up to $450,000 per person to illegal immigrants who broke our laws, came here illegally, and put their children’s lives at risk.
In a televised question and answer, President Biden had disputed that his Administration was considering doing this and called the proposed payments “garbage.”

With all due respect to Justice Sotomayor, it is not a minority of doctors who believe an unborn child can feel pain before 24 weeks.

#EmpowerWomenPromoteLife
It is well-established medical practice to provide anesthesia to the unborn child regarding medical procedures performed before 24 weeks because the nerve endings, which generate pain, are well-developed.
Why administer anesthesia to unborn children before 24 weeks if pain is not involved?

I have asked medical professionals: “Would you perform medical procedures to save or improve the life of an unborn child in the 20 week period without administering anesthesia?”
