Highlights of joint resolution adopted by @OIC_OCI in Islamabad:
- OIC will lead humanitarian + development aid efforts for Afghanistan & forge global partnerships with UN to streamline aid.
- OIC to establish Humanitarian Trust Fund under @isdb_group to channel assistance.
- OIC will launch food security program for AFG.
- OIC Gen Sec together with IsDB, Trust Fund and UN agencies will devise a mechanism to disburse urgent aid & to unlock financial and banking channels to resume liquidity and flow of financial services for Afghan people. #OIC4Afg
- @OIC_OCI appointed appointed Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet as special envoy for Afghanistan to coordinate assistance efforts & pursue economic and political engagement with Afghanistan.
- OIC called upon Afghanistan to take concrete steps against all terrorist orgs particularly Al-Qaeda, Deash and its affiliates, ETIM and TTP. OIC reaffirmed the importance of ensuring that the territory of Afghanistan is not used as platform or safe haven by any terrorist group.
The resolution adopted by OIC urges Afghan authorities to respect human rights especially women rights as enshrined in Islam and allow women and girls to participate in all aspects of society and work towards inclusiveness. #OIC4Afg
OIC called for concerted efforts to rebuild the capacity of relevant state institutions of Afghanistan to address challenges posed by terrorism, narcotics, smuggling, money laundering, organized crime, and irregular migration.
OIC expressed concerns over freezing of overseas Afghan assets and warned that economic meltdown in Afghanistan could lead to mass exodus of refugees, promote extremism, terrorism, and instability that could've dire consequences for regional and international peace.
Without naming India, OIC member urged the international community to remain cautious against the role of spoilers, both inside and outside AFG, who could derail efforts aimed at peace and stability in Afghanistan.

National Counter Terrorism Authority would also be part of the new NICC. "The move is part of the long-awaited reform of the intelligence apparatus to clarify the role of respective agencies, improve coordination, and optimize their capabilities."
