I saw #Nowayhome last night, the movie was incredible, but this thread is not about the movie and will contain no spoilers.

This thread is about the poor condition and experience I had at @Marcus_Theatres/@MovieTavern
First lemme preface this by saying that the staff were fine, this thread has nothing to do with them. My issues are complaints that I've had with Movie Tavern since Marcus Theaters took them over. I've seen an overall downtrend in quality that is just unacceptable.
I arrived at the theater around 30 minutes before the showing, as is what is recommended by Movie Tavern to provide staff with adequate time to prep the food. Upon arrival we were told that food orders are done online now and not in person.
The classic "button to order" is no-longer a thing seemingly. This may be a covid concession which is fine, but some communication that food orders can *AND SHOULD* be done well in advance should have been communicated.
Upon installing the, which is a multi step process, the only food it actually shows you is popcorn and a featured item. Why the food menu isn't just something I can scroll down I have no idea. Wasn't until I discovered that you could scroll left and right that we found real food.
The top of the menu was *hidden* by the notch on my iphone. If this is intentional: it's poor design, if it wasn't and just a glitch: fix it.
Make the menu fully visible, let me scroll the entire thing from top to bottom. I get you are trying to maximize sales on high ticket items, but this is exploitive at worst and annoying at best.
After finding the actual food on the menu we came to discover that more than half the items were removed or unavailable. They basically only had traditional movie theater snacks and drinks.

No bar items were listed, no way to even order from there.
The entire point of coming to a *Movie Tavern* was to have lunch and see a movie. I would have happily gone to literally any other theater had I known that they basically don't do proper lunch/dinner and ditched the full service bar.
But ok, lets ignore the concessions for a moment and focus on the things that *REALLY* matter in a movie theater.

The screen, the sound, and the seats.

How were all these things?

To put simply: poor.
I'll start with the seats, lets take a look how @greglovesmovies wants you to believe Marcus Theaters seats are:
Nice plush comfortable red leather reclining seats.

The reality? Dirty, damaged seats, with torn leather headrests, and a broken reclining function that shoves something into your lumbar area when fully extended. There is 0 quality control, great way to see a movie.
Well what about the screen and sound?

I paid for the "Superscreen DLX" tickets. Let's see what they describe this as:
The screen was certainly bigger, it was also incredibly dim.

All the trailers only played audio out of a single speaker. And when the movie started this same thing was happening for the first 2 minutes of the movie before the audio started to come out of all the speakers.
The dolby atmos sound might as well have been non existent, I was sitting directly under a speaker and could barely hear any dialog. Not to mention the house lights stayed on for much for the first 5 minutes as well not helping the already dim screen.
The pricing on these tickets is somewhere in the middle of IMAX and standard pricing. At 15 per person, I paid for a total of 4 seats. Came out to around 80 after taxes.

80 dollars to see a poorly projected, barely audible, movie in broken seats, with no food/drink service.
I think I'd watch a bootleg at home while laying in bed at that point.
Look I know this thread is harsh as hell, but this was a special occasion. This was a birthday gift, it was the first movie we'd all been to in over two years, and I chose @Marcus_Theatres because I trusted them to deliver the highest quality experience.
I used to recommend them to people looking for a high quality movie theater experience but I will not be doing that anymore.

These are hard times, but things I'm complaining about are core parts of your product. If they were extras it'd be different.

Do better.
