1. Put more light on talented photographers that deserved to be known
2. Allow me, an art lover and curation passionate, to search for new talents everyday, and feature them all in just one place, where it'll be easy for me to find them all later on.

2 weeks ago I merged the idea of these 2 tweets together. One idea came out of that brainstorm with myself. It was an obvious one:
I needed to create a highly curated platform featuring the most talented NFT Photographers from this space, without all the noise seen on Twitter

1. Allow all photographers to connect directly with other photographers from all over the world, thanks to a map feature that will show the curated photographers on a map based on their location (this is my favorite feature of the website so far)

The website (nftphotographers.xyz) is live and features 60 photographers already, who have been selected amongst those who wanted to participate to the beta testing.
We want to keep the platform as highly curated as possible for everyone to fully enjoy it.

Originally, the idea was to open the platform to every single NFT Photographer.
Quickly we realized this wouldn't be a long term viable option.
Why?
1) First, because it will not help anyone to have a website featuring thousands of photographers.

The reason why this website was created in the first place was to have a platform that doesn't have all the noise found on Twitter.

With this website, we wanted to give collectors the opportunity to browse through a highly curated list of photographers, including some of the best talents found in this space.

While trying to be as inclusive as possible, we also want to offer the photographers we whitelist a feeling of pride.
If this platform was open to absolutely everyone, it will not serve the purpose of the photographers or the collectors. Thus, will not be used.

After the window for applications closes, a curation team made of 5-10 photographers will go through all applications received, blindly selecting a batch of photographers based solely on the art.

Of course, judging art isn't something objective, and will never be. Though, by having a team of 5-10 photographers trained to see a lot of images, we believe this will be the closest thing to an objective curation.
