In July 2021, LoO @Dev_Fadnavis ,after studying data on setting up of 60 STPs across India, pointed out that avg cost of sewage treatment comes to ~ ₹ 1.7 crore/million litres per day (MLD)
But for BMC, it would amount to ₹7.5 crore/ MLD, or SIX TIMES higher than national avg

Like most important infrastructure projects related to Mumbaikars, BMC’s plan to upgrade/rebuild completely STPs has been moving at a SNAIL’s PACE for >15 YEARS; with BMC “planning” to spend >₹ 15,000 crore to rebuild STPs
