Some exciting news: on 24 January there's a special live @TheRestHistory in aid of the 3 charities that I & @AuthorsCC have been raising £ for all year.
The event will be held in St Martin-in-the-Fields, & will be in aid of @18_keys, a charity focussed on helping homeless women secure longterm shelter; @PassageCharity; & @AMARLondon, which does incredible work helping Yazidi refugees.

Or is it possible that people CAN actually miss the glaring resemblances between the arguments of the Yes campaign in the Indyref & those of the Leave campaign in the Brexit referendum?
It's not even as if it's necessarily insulting to Sturgeon to compare her to Farage. He is, after all, the most consequential British political figure of the 21st century , & the only reason he pips Sturgeon to that title is because he's won a referendum, & she hasn't.
A fun game. Are you STURGEON or FARAGE?
1 Do you yearn to escape the shackles of:
i Westminster
ii Brussels
2 When you've won independence, will you:
i Rejoin the EU
ii Become Global Britain
3 Is everything bad that happens the fault of:
i Evil Tories
ii Unelected bureaucrats
I understand Scottish nationalism perfectly well! Yes, Sturgeon is left-wing, socially liberal & pro immigration; but these are ultimately epiphenomenal details. What truly motivates her is a very simple principle: she wants to TAKE BACK CONTROL
This was a very telling moment in the indyref. Yes, all things being equal, Sturgeon would prefer to be in the EU; but it's never been the core of her political being. scotsman.com/news/politics/…
Anyway, because life is too short to argue with people offended by having the obvious points of comparison between the Scottish & Brexit referendums pointed out to them, & also I have too much work to do to get into arguments on Twitter, I will leave it there!
