Sanji vs Kizaru is Happening in Wano: A Discussion on the Possibility
⬇️Thread Below⬇️
There’s already been enough talk about why these two characters should fight at some point in the story, but I want to make the argument that it could happen sooner than expected, at the end of the current arc, in Wano
First, we have to look back at the events of Sabaody. Prior to their arrival, Zoro was critically injured by Kuma after the “Nothing Happened” moment. Sanji was one of the few people aware of this and took it upon himself to keep the swordsman safe, worrying over him constantly
However, with the arrival of Kizaru on the archipelago and the return of Kuma, Sanji was unable to stop Zoro from being whisked away along with the rest of the crew, leaving him to blame himself for the failure
Now, during the current arc, we see Zoro once again about to be out of commission from the Mink’s medicine, which has been rightly compared to his “Nothing Happened” moment on Thriller Bark.
We also know the Marines are currently on their way to Wano, and Kizaru had previously asked to go there himself but was turned down. He could have possibly been dispatched to partake in this mission after the situation became more dire
If he does arrive with the fleet, this would be incredibly similar to what happened on Sabaody, and Sanji would be in a perfect position to protect Zoro like he tried to before the timeskip
This could also tie back to Sanji’s line to Kuma, which I and many others have taken as foreshadowing; taking on an Admiral like this would make his promise of causing trouble for the Marines come to fruition in a bombastic way
Ultimately, a lot of elements are converging right now that would create a perfect opportunity for this fight to occur and parallel previous events. Even if it’s not a traditional fight, Sanji could just protect Zoro from Kizaru without defeating him, still fulfilling the set up
And just to make it clear, there is a very stark line between what I think will happen and what I want to happen, and this idea falls on the latter. Still, I found it interesting enough to want to get my thoughts out 🤷♂️
