Finding it incredibly difficult to choose just one story for #MyKhilafatStory!
Once I walked into Huzoors office very worried about something completely unrelated. I hid my worries put on a brave face and entered the room…
As I entered the room, and smelt the freshness of Huzoors fragrance, Huzoor looked up at me for a few seconds and told me to come and sit down…
The matter was not something I had spoken about to anyone else, it was in fact impossible for Huzoor to know that I was thinking about it…
Moreover I was actively smiling and giving no hint away at the fact that I had something in the back of my head that I was thinking about.
And yet no sooner had I sat down on one of the chairs in Huzoors old office, that Huzoor looked at me, smiled and said ‘maulwi pareyshan lag rahey Ho’ (Maulwi, you look worried)!
He didn’t wait for an answer. Instead starting talking directly about the issue as if he knew all about it. He gave me advice, examples, and at the end of it all…
He told me to get up…and he gave me a hug…
For me, I had never felt so understood. So cared for. So loved.
I walked out of the room having given no details about my worry and yet being now, completely at ease.
For me that is the hallmark of khilafat - the one who turns you from a state of fear to one of peace.
